This school meets basic expectations. It teaches the common core standards with average teaching practices. There is good attention to students with unique needs. It has limited art, music, physical education, and science, and limited library services. It does not offer any foreign language. The after-school activities compliment the basic instruction.

I was the PTA President for the Butler School for 3 years and consider it to be the best in Belmont. The single largest reason our MCAS scores are lower is because brilliant scientists and Drs are recruited to do research from the finest institutions and this is the district they choose to live in. Their children don't speak English when they get here, but we force them to take a test, only in English. We are multicultural school with the best Principals and teachers. Our children don't care about what anothers skin color or religion is....they just want to play and learn together. We represent several different countries and if we were the UN, we'd have world peace. I like to think of Butler as an example to the world of how children can learn and exceed together, working as a team, sharing ideas, and staying creative instead of just learning to memorize. I love and miss the school so much I'm tempted to adopt a youngster just so I can go back and be among such beautiful people again. ;-) My name is Anne Mahon and if you have any further questions, I'm happy to provide you with answers. Google me and you'll find me.

Butler Elementary was a gift to my son and I will be indebted to them forever. From Mr. McCallister down through the ranks, the staff is top notch. Goldshine to Hannon to Filipi to Chan to Chiu: five grades of pure gold. The Talent Shows, the book fairs, the international fairs with a breathtaking 26 countries represented, the community that came together around a playground and a basketball court. Butler is a work of art.

This is the bets elementary school ever, i am in 8th grade now but i rember how great it is, the teachers and most of kids, the after school program is great and fun and freedom(crafts, playing board games, gym,or outside playground) thye kids choose what they want to do, and it is a huge school and a nice neighborhood but really cold, definitly the best school.

Butler is a fantastic school with a vibrant, multi-cultural community, excellent teachers, and an incredibly proactive principal. There is definitely a sense of pride and a welcoming community. I have two kids at the school and both love their school wholeheartedly.

Our three kids have all attended this school and we are amazed at how much of a gem Daniel Butler continues to be for us. The smaller school size and demographics of the area seem to result in what we perceive a higher parent involvement. This results in a tighter community and better learning environment for the kids. Do not be shocked if your kid is reading by the end of Kindergarten!
