Have become aware of a few teachers through the grapevine who place their politics over community and neutrality. No one is sure how to handle these few teachers other than hope to not be assigned them and grit your teeth until the year is over if you do get assigned them. Other teachers, administration, staff are wonderful.

The school has Non-Stop events going on. Specifically I'm talking about field trips, author visits, specialist activities, evening community events, 5th grade leadership events, student performances, festivals, and fundraisers. Parents can get involved or not. It's a large school, with no dominant majority type of kid, and this makes the school extremely diverse. It's not uncommon for a single classroom to have children who speak 10 different languages. Teachers and aides quickly become experts in helping students become English proficient. A recent emphasis on social emotional learning it has expanded into recess and throughout the curriculum. Kids are being taught how to become nice adults. If something's not working for you at Cherry Crest, then keep advocating for your kids. The school faces the same shortages of funding as anyone else, but works really hard but the PTSA to come up with funds for solutions that meet everyone's needs.

The staff, parents and students strive to work together in a united force, with opportunities for enrichment and support for the full population. Having seen 7 years of students cycle through the school with multiple siblings, we are thrilled to see Cherry Crest continue to develop into an institution of high learning standards, community support and inclusion. It is refreshing to see a staff and parent support that offers communication for all stakeholders willing to get involved. You have a voice if you are willing to be involved. It certainly takes a village. It would be nice to have larger numbers of parent volunteers involved in campus support, however, the dozens of dedicated parent leaders we have witnessed certainly have raised the bar for student support over the past several years. Thank you PTA! Parent efforts throughout the school have also found support from the current administration, working above-and-beyond in their care to create open communication and inviting all stakeholders to get involved. We appreciate the dedicated staff who give focus attention to student development and care to offer a variety ways to support various kinds of student learners. The school day and after-school enrichment programs, and yearly activity planning efforts are marvelous. Keep up the great work! Thank you from the grateful parents of 2016 5th grade graduating class .

The school is controlled by the PTA! The Principal has no control and panders to the PTA. It is an environment where every one is fearful of the PTA. PTA is controlled by a few women who think and behave as if they own the school. The Policies of the Bellevue School District do not apply to the PTA women and are not enforced by the Principal. PTA spending is questionable when parents hard earned money is spent on line dancing and chair massages but no one dare say anything from the fear of being targeted by the mighty PTA women. Bullying is common and encompasses parents and kids. Racial discrimination is obvious and prevalent in the community.

Had 3 kids at CC in 2012-2013 year, 4th grader and twin Kindergarteners. Teachers are trying their best but are bound to the curriculum and forced to "teach to the test." The school is also very focused on "mainstreaming" special ed kids -- with few classroom aides, few resources, and cramped time schedules, this means the teacher spends 80% of their actual teaching time dealing with these kids. Kids who need more challenge or extra help but who are not special needs are left in the dust, along with the just average kids. Bullying is a consistent problem, but not nearly as bad as in Medina Elementary, so I'm counting my blessings about that. One thing CC has going for it is that the PTA is present, but does not own the school like at Med. Elem. When the policies actually get enforced, they apply to everyone equally, without regard to who has a PTA mom and not.

Have a 4th grader going into 5th grade in the fall. As with the previous parent's opinion that emphasis is on math over spelling I agree with the posit, but not the outcome. Technology requires strong math skills for success, while reading and spell check makes spelling less important to test for. Overall an awesome learning environment with great teachers and parent involvement. We will miss Principal Carroll next year.

The school has a lot of parental involvement but the level of learning is mediocre. The teachers are tied to the state curriculum and teach to the test. They don't really add a lot of activity based learning or challenge the smarter kids in the class. Ex. My 4th grade son gets a lot of math homework each day but hasn't had one spelling test all year long. I would
