Current student. I have witnessed terrible bullying and gossip first hand and even been the victim of it. Staff will not do anything about it, students get away with bullying with a slap on the wrist. Teachers are more concerned about dress code than blatant bullying and disrespect. Students repeatedly act inappropriate during class and never in trouble. 7th-8th grade teachers will pick favorites and victimize others, it is known that you shouldn't get on a certain teacher's "bad side." Teachers are also not great at dealing with students with disabilities. Although there are some great teachers, I would not chance it. Especially do not send your older kids to this school.

Horrible school. Stay away. Lacks diversity. If you minority parent, they will look at you crazy. Bullies are not addressed or take accountability.

As a former student I can assure the disregard for students’ emotional well being is a common issue at SPS. Back in early 2010’s the bullying amongst classmates was brutal and sadly administrators did not care to deal with it. Swept under the rug in an almost literal sense. Unfortunately the victims of bullying were shamed more, with negative attention verses patience and understanding, when viable issues were brought to light. Lack of knowledge is not an excuse. I unfortunately remember being routinely victimized by a certain faculty member. She deliberately blamed me, in front of all my peers, for her unfortunate recent prescription of blood pressure medication. As if a 12 year old teenager is truly the reason for her hypertension. Truly appalled how my 12 years went at SPS!Catholic High-school was so different for me and in leu gave me a good opinion of catholic education. I was able to shed my distaste for my previous years of schooling and chalk it up to bad administration practices allowed to run rampant. At large, do not blame catholic education for the faults at SPS Bayshore. Many other reviews from the non-elite families who have chosen to share their misadventures within their child’s enrollment years. Sad! However.. there are such good things to be said about other catholic schools on LI. This school, for years now it, just seems to be a bad egg in the bunch.

Please don't waste your money. If your child has any problems don't expect them to be addressed. Their only concern is that your tuition is paid and that you participate in their many fund raisers. They bury their heads in the sand when it comes to issues of bullying and other problems that the students may be dealing with.

My daughter is having a wonderful experience at St. Patrick School! Her teachers are dedicated and caring. They teach her religious values through fun hands on projects, and are always reaching out to help the Bay Shore community. The administration has always been understanding and supportive. There is a great family feeling when you walk through the doors of St. Patrick School. I highly recommend this school!

For the parents on this forum who said that their child wasn't accepted here for enrollment, count yourselves as lucky. It is a blessing that your child didn't feel the scourge of ineffective leadership, disrespectful children and a mediocre education.

Horrible. Highly dissatisfied and disgusted with lack of strong, compassionate leadership!

Very Good!! My son attended this school from kindergarten through 8th grade, and my daughter is in her 5th year there. I am so glad we made the decision to have our children educated at St. Patrick's school. The academics are solid, the environment is unparalleled. A true gem in Bay Shore!

My wife and I have four kids attending St. Pat's. With this family size, we have had wide exposure to the school and all its facets. The teachers are a very dedicated, energetic, deliver results and care for our children. The principal is on the cutting edge of education techniques & cares for the kids. The pastor is completely dedicated to the school and ensures the bold Catholic identity. The academic standards are high, and friends have credited St. Pat's in making an easy transition for their kids into Catholic high school. The 2017 graduating class received $100,000 in scholarships to Catholic HS's. These reasons & others (free aftercare, free early-ed for parishioners) are why St. Pat's Bay Shore has one of the largest Catholic elementary enrollments on Long Island and is busting at the seams.

Do not send your child to this school!!!!! They did not accept my child based on a 7year olds report card. I have a spanish last name the principle said " sorry we dont offer esl" and when i explained we are working on his hyperness she said "ohhhhh wow you put him on medication?" Extremely disapointed i am a member of there church to be treated so belittled i am even contiplating attending a new church.

I thought it was bad last year but it is even worse this year. The problem was and continues to be ineffective, indecisive, unapproachable leadership. The principal needs to spend more time educating herself and less time trying to sell the parents a tainted less than honest fantasy. Luckily there are still a few dedicated teachers who have yet to leave as many others did. I am highly disappointed.

Catholic schools do not have the resources all the public schools have. Did you go over the rubric to understand what the grades mean?

St. Patrick's is a nightmare. Having a school say face it some children are just "C" students when a child has a learning disability is not something parents should ever hear. The school only cares about their appearance to new families and those entitled families who rule the school. Be careful new parents to really look at this school and if you send your children here do not let anything slide. The school needs a wake up call.

The last couple of reviews are obviously from parents of younger children. They do not know what they are in for. Younger grades are enjoyable so hold onto to those memories. These parents I am sure have not had to deal with bullying and the fact that the administration acts like ostriches and stick their head in the sand. The 7th and 8th grade in particular is a free for all for bullies especially if they are considered more important by the administration meaning they throw money at problems. The school does not do anything to protect the students who are bullied. The teachers are ineffective with discipline and as far as extra help in one case you are lucky if the teacher shows up for extra help and is always late. This is part of the reason parents start pulling them out to go to Kellenberg in 6th grade. The upper grades are not worth your money to send your child to this school and will leave you sorry that you sent them there.

Great school! Technology is always being updated in every classroom. Teachers are caring, supportive and encouraging. Administration and staff are leading the school in a positive direction.

I am not sure what the previous parent is referring to, but I have had nothing but a good experience at St. Patrick School. The extra help offered by the caring teachers each morning has been a tremendous help to my children. As far as aftercare, I do not take advantage of it, but think it is a wonderful gift from the school to working parents. I don't know of any other school that offers this service to their parents in need. I don't pay any additional costs as referred to, and fundraising is always optional, unlike other schools. I can only say, I am happy with my choice of St. Patrick School for my children.

Just to keep the facts straight extra help should always be free or the teachers are not doing their job (like some who show up late and don't teach during class just play on the computer). As far as enrollment improving it is not the good news spreading it is the unfortunate state of Catholic schools being closed which increased the enrollment, something which will change for the next year especially since bullying is not something the principal will ever deal with. As far as aftercare I agree they should have it for free with the amount of tuition, fundraising and extra curricular costs everyone pays each year. Be careful if you are looking for a catholic school - this administration is not there for the good of the students.
