I have a child who is currently a sophomore in BHS, and another child who graduated BHS in 2019. I graduated from BHS in 1987; their father in 1985. We are now both professionals. My mother was an English teacher at BHS for many years. For students who are reasonably motivated and responsible, Bangor High School will prepare them well for whatever path they choose. Like many things in life, what you put in determines what you get out. The music program has been great for my kids. They like school, and as parents we have no complaints.

Moving to Bangor Maine was one of the worst mistakes we ever made. The school department is horrible. We had children in 3 different Bangor schools and we quickly realized that the administration was unimaginably bad. In particular, Principal Paul Butler from Bangor High School. He is arrogant, rude and quite frankly a horrible Principal. Recently, Bangor High School was in the news for multiple complaints of racism that has taken place over a number of years. Local social media posts shed light on the toxic culture that exists in Bangor. Do yourself a favor, don't send your children here!

My experience as a student at Bangor High School was extremely poor. I was alone without support in a school that just doesn't care about the majority. They care about sports and smart kids. No child left behind... yeah right! If you're attending Bangor High School, it's like you're going to school from the stone ages. Arrogance, attitudes, no technology, and no support from teachers or principals.

This school is pathetic. My kids have been in schools all over the world, and this by far is the worst. The administrators in the school do not lead, and do not encourage creativity and original thought. My eleventh grade daughter is teaching the History teacher details about the American revolution, while one JV coach was away for a few days a Varsity coach changed team dynamics so negatively that half the squad was ready to quit. The principal chooses to blame students and condemn their behavior when upset over decisions by his staff, rather than admit that poor decisions are being made by his staff. My three kids have attended schools in nine different states and Bangor High School is by far the worst.

As a parent of a student with medical issues, this school maybe great academically, but, i am highly disappointed. Lack of staff returnimg emails and phone calls and hearing them say they have the resources my child needs, yet, i have heard too many times "sorry, I dropped the ball" I'm done. I feel like my child is falling through the cracks. So, i will be pulling my child out of this school and transfer her to another one where there are less students and less staff and hopefully people who remember enough to care. I'm highly disappointed and am done chasing the staff around. It's apparent to me they're not on the same page as me, so, I will find a school that is willing to be.
