Johnston Square is constantly improving from year to year under the newest administration. The school has a 30 minute school-wide math intervention block, 90 minute ability group reading program, the YMCA after school program, co-ed flag football team which took the championship 2 out of the 3 years for the program, community partnerships, and more. This school is a community school. Children are exposed to lots of technology and online learning programs. Through the use of the Success For All school-wide reading program from pre-k to grade 5 the students have shown around a 35% increase in the number of students reading on grade level in a 3 year time period. This is steadily improving with strategic grouping of students and professional development of staff. The school culture also continues to improve as the administration continues to connect with children and families to build relationships in the community which IS the school. There are several committees operating in the school to meet the needs of students and their families. A lot of good things are happening here! It just keeps getting better!

My grandson attends this school for the second year, he's a 4th grader, and I absolutely hate it. He was attending Inner Harbor East Academy before it closed and I searched hi and low to find another school. Johnston Square is our zoned school so I had no choice since he needs aftercare at Living Classrooms. For 2 years he only gets math homework. He's a bright child and needs to be challenged. I had a conversation about my grandson missing the school bus home and the principal said to me "Well, I will have him personally escorted since he seems to lack the intelligence to do it himself." Needless to say he won't being saying that to me again. Horrible, and he's an "educator."

We have a great staff who work very hard to give our students that best chance to succeed. We have technology such as computers and iPads in every classroom . We have great afterschool programs and clubs.

Horrible!!!!! I enrolled my son in June. They lost my paperwork 3 times before school started and on the first day said my son needed more shots based on the new process. Why wasn't that looked at in June. I transferred him on the third day and he wasn't even put in there system yet!!!

Its a terrible school in a not so good area. I dont blame the children, but I will blame the parents and the staff. The classes are filled with children who have behavioral issues and my child is a good, well mannered child and because of this, she gets left behind. I attempted to discuss with the principal about changing her class and he treated me like i an idiot. I am in the process of trying to find another school to put her in. she deserves better than John Square Elementary!!!
