My child transfered to Avondale Elementary from a private school, and we are extremely happy with the leadership and quality of the teachers. They truly care and work with the parents to meet each child's individual needs. The curriculum could be a bit more challenging with more opportunities for some students to progress faster, due to the large number of ESL students, but the nurturing environment is worth it. My child loves her teachers and looks forward to going to school for the first time in her life. Avondale's teachers and leadership are by far the best in Pueblo. They emphasize quantity over quality a bit too much (attendance and number of books read as opposed to individual academic achievement or advancement), but that helps to even the playing field for the ESL students. If you need a quality, nurturing environment for your child with staff who values your input, don't waste your money on the private schools in-town, they don't compete. Get on the wait list for Connect for middle school though... I'm not impressed with the middle schools in the county.

Very impressed with this school. They have made my child feel welcome and have provided a comprehensive education with good after school programs. They make the students feel safe, provide free meals and summer activities, and Ms. Avalos is doing a great job as principal. Very personable environment.

The staff in Avondale Elementary tend to go out of their way for the kids. For what little the teachers get in salary they end up buying alot of the supplies that they use in the classroom, like for bulletin boards, even some of the things that they use to teach a particular lesson. The kids don't use inappropriate language. Its actually a great school to be a part of.

The teachers work very hard to do everything they can to help the students succeed. They make sure every child feels safe and that no one is left out in class or in the learning process.
