Coming from a bigger district, this school has been terrible. The kids are stressed out due to the amount of work that needs to completed, school days are longer, with less staff development days, the curriculum focuses too heavily on standardized testing and punishing students for not keeping up instead of fostering a culture of learning. The overly conservative dress code in the district especially elementary schools hinders the years of creativity and self discovery. Admin quickly defends the teachers and fails to provide solutions to issues

Our family has had children at Monaco for the past seven years. We have nearly always had a great experience with their education and daily participation on campus. The current administration and teachers have been doing an amazing job flexing and pivoting as our world has navigated the pandemic. Communication is abundant and clear when it comes to grades and expectations. We love the dress code and the simplicity that makes with getting ready. Overall we are very happy with Monaco Elementary and it has been a great place for our kids to grow and learn. The only negative I have experienced over the years is the lack of involvement from parents, both at the school and with their children. Disrespect and bullying seem to be on the rise, and that starts at home. This is not just a local problem, but one that is noticeable everywhere.

We love Monaco Elementary!! There are so many great teachers at Monaco. Our eldest child started 2nd grade at Monaco years ago and our other 2 boys completed ALL their Elementary education at Monaco. We’ve had 3 different principals with our time at Monaco each of which ran things differently. One thing I know for sure is that Monaco has higher expectations of their students than the surrounding school districts do. At times this can be frustrating and other times it is something that I am grateful for. Sometimes I wish our young kids could have not had so many expectations and been allowed to have more freedom to be kids. Other times I’m grateful for the higher expectations because my children have received excellent educations though Monaco. Sometimes communication between teachers and parents is lacking, and other times it’s excellent. It really depends on the teacher. I know that’s the same with all schools.

This school started out great, but has gone down over the last three years. There are only a handful of good teachers at this school who care and try to help students. Children with learning differences are given up on instead of helped. There is a lack of accountability and discipline for students. Students are not required to complete tasks, and there are no consequences for incomplete work or other unacceptable behaviors. We are disappointed in what was supposed to be a good school.

Attempts are great. But excellent scholastic students fall in the cracks. Instead of engaging students they watch a movies after recess. Not enough interactive teaching too much worksheets. Under experienced teachers.

This is an excellent school! We have a 4th grader, 2nd grader, and kindergartner attending Monaco this year. Teachers truly care about each student. The GT program is fantastic, they meet everyday for 1 hour. Principal Lowman is wonderful. The school nurse is outstanding. Front office staff is super sweet. Parent involvement with PTO is high. We are so thankful for Monaco and the wonderful learning environment it provides. Lots of good Christian families and teachers are at this school.

The school has very poor supervision , making sure young children are in a secure environment.. often left unattended, almost in the hands of strangers.! it's not an overwhelming enormous campus. The some teachers are far too relaxed, and often there's Bullying with to new students.

This school (and district) is very conservative. The dress code is strict...as close to uniforms as you can be without actually being uniforms. It is a small school district with limited resources. The Gifted and Talented program consists of 1 hour every week and only 30ish kids from the entire school get in. As with any school, there are good and bad teachers. Principal Lowman has the perfect personality for an elementary school principle...positive, kind, cheerful, encouraging. It is a good school but not a great school. I wish the school was more willing to embrace new techniques and ideas.

This is a great school. They teach respect for yourself and others. Your children are also expected to listen and follow rules, which is how children should act. Parent involvement is great and the atmosphere is great!! If you want your kids to succeed, have respect for themselves and others, and learn to follow rules this is the school for you.
