This is an amazing school. The Principal and her staff are very welcoming and friendly. They actually take the time to know the children. Absolutely love this school !

I rate my experience at this school as disruptive, ineffecient, ineffective and disturbing to say the very least. It has been an eye opening wake up call though which would be the only benefit to the 4 years we wasted here.

I think they have a positive impact on students..

Horrible. If I had it to do all over again, I would choose a better option.

I would not recommend any kid to this school . The teachers are constantly resigning leaving the children with substitutes handling out worksheets. The kids are falling behind and the administration seem to not have a care at all. You can reach out to them via email and/or phone they will not call back. They act as if the principals care but they really don’t . They don’t even take time to communicate with the parents . It’s simply ridiculous. If you want your kid to be retained and the administrative staff not have a care in the world , the. This is the school for you , but if you’re looking for principals who care and a school where your kid will excel , this is DEFINITELY NOT THE SCHOOL FOR YOU

Back in 2010 there was a Principal that came into Randolph, and saw how terribly that school was operating, Teachers were not doing their jobs, and didn't seem to be interested in whether the kids were learning or not. Principal Chris Askew came in, and saw what was going on at this school, and wanted to change education for the better, the Teachers were not interested in changing for the better, and wanted him gone. Chris Askew by far was the best educated, and caring principal that this school has ever had! It's a shame that the school didn't want to do better as a school, and do better for the children that attend this elementary school.

Randolph is a amazing school with great leadership. The principal and assistant principal work very hard, as does the staff. They are willing to go over and beyond. It is important to remain engaged in the school!

We enrolled our student into Randolph as a Kindergartner. Our student now is in the 4th grade. We are currently looking at other options for next school year because Randolph has turned into a poor performing, very ineffective school. This year the parents are doing more teaching at home because the teachers are just not teaching anymore in the classroom. There's no such thing as traditional teaching (teachers giving a lesson to the students in front of the classroom) at Randolph. I ask my student everyday about what they did in school that day; my student always say they are working on their Chromebooks. The Chromebooks are the teachers of today at Randolph and that is just unacceptable. We always have confusion about homework because the homework focuses on so many topics all at once and we as parents don't know if the students are covering these topic now or in the near future. It can be very overwhelming. Randolph has become very confusing with no leadership. The Principal is nonexistent and appears to possess no experience in her role as Principal. She doesn't engage the parents or students enough; only through her weekly reminders. Most times she appear to avoid parents and seems very unapproachable. She is very disconnected with parents and the school. It all starts with her and her staff along with some teachers are following her lead. Her staff is very unresponsive when your reach out to them about anything. It's unprofessional. Also, the test scores declined since she became Principal and to tell the parents at a PTA meeting to look at these scores and watch your student's score is another way of being in denial about how her leadership and the teachers are performing. They are not cutting it. The parents are working overtime to ensure their student won't be left behind because of lack of effectiveness from the administration and staff at Randolph. We wanted to post our thoughts here because Randolph is in denial and unresponsive to criticism. A note on some of the teachers...many of the teachers lack experience in a classroom which in turn present issues of classroom management. Many of the behavior issues are due to the teacher not monitoring the student's interaction with (or without) other students at ALL TIMES. It starts with PROPER classroom management by the teacher. Last thing, the front desk in not inviting and can be rude.

My student enrolled in A P Randolph Elementary as a Kindergartener. I fell in love with her teacher and the leadership at that time. Changes have occurred since that time and there have been some growing pains, for sure! But, when I take an objective look at the daily occurrences, I must admit that the leadership and many of the teachers are trying to create an environment that is nurturing to our babies. Parent involvement is encouraged and evident via many modalities (drop-off line, volunteer opportunities, multiple invitations to come in an interact with staff and students). All roads have not been smooth, but this is to be expected. I do believe that the roads are all heading and merging toward a grand destination... and kudos to everyone when we arrive!

I am very disappointed with the teachers this year I feel my child hasn't learned nor is he getting the help he needs to move to the next grade. This school tends to push our kids on to the next grade some of theses kids still can't read nor do they understand the math science nor the social studies because most of the teachers just want a check just like the principal and assistant principal at this school I truly feel they don't care about our kids like they talk about at these PTA meeting!!! As parents we have to pray over our kids and teach them the best way we can theses days and times have truly changed!

I am disappointed at the number of unprofessional teachers who work in this school, some are even in high positions. Also, I just looked at the test scores and am in further disbelief! Are the teachers so focused on disciplining the students that they are not teaching??? I am dismayed.

My child is a first grader in a class of 20 plus students. Even though my child meets all academic expectations, the teacher never provides feedback on anything other than "they pushed, they were not focused today, etc. Oftentimes the extensive homework (which my child completes in one setting) doesn't appear to be checked. It is returned with no check marks, comments other indication of review. I realize that the teacher has to maintain control, however, yelling and verbal threats serve no positive purpose.

The principal and the vice principal are really trying to Improve the customer service and student service of this school. Some of the teachers do yell at the students, in particular the tag teacher which seems odd, & which I am against, but I always voice my concerns when dissatisfaction occurs. I hope too witness test scores rise and parent involvement continue to grow. Children need us, all of us, and this school are aware of this fact and try to implement parent involvement strategies suitable for parents.

Teachers and Principal are wonderful and work hard to create a good learning atmosphere for students. However, the level of testing (and this is probably true at any public school) takes away from learning time. Children are not appropriately challenged as the students who don't get things as quickly slow the pace down for everyone else. Kids come home telling me about things they hear from other students that are totally inappropriate and unexpected from Elementary aged children. Whole class loses recess time as a result of *some* students acting up. Math pacing is way too slow and strange, awkward methods of doing simple tasks are taught.

My child has been at Randolph since Pre-K and had a positive experience throughout her matriculation. She is now in the 4th grade, and what I enjoy most is seeing the amount of parent engagement at the school. The PTA is excellent, they host in-school field trips, and host a number of activities throughout the school year that foster great school spirit. Events held include Books-n-Burgers, Skate Night, School Dances, Family Movie Night, Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts and Lunches, and this has been consistent since my child arrived in 2010. Principal Millen has been an AWESOME asset for the school, while she has been promoted to Area Director I am looking forward to continued student achievement under the leadership of Principal Latoya Miley.

My school is great! It is pro-children. During the snow storm the students were taken good care of and delivered home safely, with no incidents and notified parents.

This is not a review. I am just seeking other reviews that are more recent for Randolph Elementary. I have a child that will be attending Randolph for the first time this year. I am a little nervous because of the 2012 CRCT Results that were posted on the AJC website. I am very disappointed to know that Randolph's Math, Science and Social Studies CRCT scores were pretty low for 2012. Can anybody give a more recent review on this school, the administration, the teachers, the programs, etc? I really hope that the leaders of this school have a plan on how to improve (drastically and convincingly) these scores in this upcoming school year. Anyone...please share your recent experiences at Randolph. Mediocrity is not an option for my child.
