Overall I do love this schools, mostly because the teachers care so much and do a great job with teaching and having fun with their students. Although the administration could use work, I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a middle school in Clarke County.

Even though we had mixed reviews about HMS before our 6th grader began attending, we decided to give it a try because we were no longer homeschooling and had great feedback about the neighborhood we were moving to. Now we have two kids there and are grateful for the continued support and dedication at Hilsman. The specific concerns we've shared have always been addressed within a day and my kids love going to school each day. The faculty and staff are always eager to help us and the school provides many activities for them to participate in. We know that this season of life for our kids can be hard, but HMS cares and are vital to our kids continued success.

I moved from out of state 1.5 years ago. My oldest finished middle school here and my two youngest attended this year. I saw the poor ratings for this school before moving but realized it had more to do with test scores in a community with a wide range of socioeconomic status and parent involvement. I believe I was right! There are so many wonderful teachers and staff: Ms. Smith, Ms. Floyd, Ms. Camp, Mr. Holland, Ms. Destefani, Mr.Oolevay, just to name a few that my girls love. The opportunities for art, music, foreign language, Ag, and core academics are fantastic. My kids do thrive here!

My son has been here since sixth grade (now in 8th). He's had teachers that truly care about their students learning and futures and in addition to being good educators his teachers have also been positive role models. Mr Hussein (7th grade) is a star educator and I hope he's still at Hilsman when my other children go there. My son still goes out of his way to try and see him and could go to him with a problem or question even though he's moved on to eighth grade.

I went to hilsman for 7th and 8th grade! I have to say the only thing I really enjoyed was choirs. At the most one or two teachers would be interested in the kids and their future ,but the rest were just there for the money! Bullying is kinda big there and teacher nor principal does nothing about it , so it maybe a stressful learning environment! It has great extra activities, but other then that your better off looking some more!

I went to hilsman for 6th and 7th grade. The teachers have no clue what's going on most of the time. There's too many open book tests. Even really smart people get like a 75% on benchmarks! The teachers do not teach us what we need to know! There is allot of bullying going ob and the teachers don't notice! The councilor is very nice and understanong. The principal and assistant principal cannot be taken seriously. The choir, band, and orchestra are exelent. But allot of the 7th grade teachers either give you a 100 for the day for writing your name and others make sure that you get too much work. But some teachers like Mr.Oleva, Mrs.Mirada, Mrs.Zeimann, teach us just right and you can tell it's not just for the pay check.
