Well, if you can avoid living in Arp or the area, do so. If not, you are stuck going here unless you go to a private school. There is lots of racism, White Supremacy, bullying, and poor behavior. You will likely be treated differently because of your skin color, mostly by other kids...not so much the staff. This is kind of the norm in East Texas. Yes, someone may say they don’t experience it as a parent, etc., but it is there. Glad our family moved away to a bigger city ao my kids could actually do some more productive things with their life. If you don’t like racism, sexism, and bigotry, stay out of Arp.

This is my first year in Arp with my children and I am not impressed at all!! My children previously went to Troup (which I loved). I am happy to say this is my childrens first and last year in arp. I have decided to move them to private. There is absolutely no communication with this school. One of my children has a learning disability and they refuse to work with him and will not follow any of the plans they agreed to. There discipline policy is liberal as all get out. They do not require children to be responsible for their actions they only suspend (give licks) or take away Recess. No sentence writing, cleaning up the mess you got in trouble for, extra laps in pe etc....real punishments. And ISS is in the middle school, same room as high schoolers and middle schoolers. I see a reason for ISS absolutely, but I refuse to have my 8 year old child who got in trouble for horseplaying in a room with an 18 year old who did something more serious. I have heard good things about the MS and HS but my children will not be attending the elementary school there.
