May 2024, my 6th grade daughter had an allergic reaction to an insect bite while playing in the yard. Due to the fast action of Mrs Tammy Mcgoogan, the school nurse and her very supportive staff the situation which could have been fatal was handled effectively and with care. Within minutes an epipen was administered and ambulance was called. In the 13 minutes it took for me to reach the school ambulance was on the scene, steroids were given and during the entire ordeal I was called and notified every step of the way. Amazing job thank you for saving my baby's life.

The teachers at this school are very passionate about what they do and push through many challenges, especially in this day and age, when parents think they know better than the teachers and when kids think it's ok to show up at school with a gun. Any issues are coming from the kids raised with no respect for public property or other people, and any public school will have that issue, no matter where you go.

Now in high school, I see that the school is very academically focused and less on opportunities. It could have just been COVID ruining my years but who knows. There is always at least 1 amazing teacher per grade/track and it’s manageable. Learning gaps are huge and lower income students were noticeably struggling. Decent

Great school. Be sure to look at details on why an individual NC school has a low rating. End of Grade and Beginning of Grade scores were once part of scores and those scores may be eliminated in years to come. All schools in Wake county are fantastic. You cannot go wrong and just because you buy a house in one school district does not mean you will go to that school. District lines are constantly changing!

Until my child's 8th grade year, it has been fine. This academic year has been a disaster in math. I watch him get frustrated and almost to the point of tears because he has a difficult time understanding what his teacher is trying to get across and like I stated before, this is because she has no idea herself what she is trying to teach. It is a shame that this has become a wasted year for him in math.

BEST MIDDLE SCHOOL EVER... The teachers here are great! So are the kids! I love coming here and feel like i'm learning a lot every day!

Awful, I was treated like an animal instead of a person. I tried my best but it wasn't enough. I'm happy I'm out of there and actually learning.

My daughter is in 6th grade and has been bullied by boys in the school and on the bus since the beginning of the year. I have gone to the school on several occasions and they say they will handle it but it continues to happen. They simply do not know what to do to stop the bullying it and my daughter is suffering for it. My daughter will be going to another school next year and I just cannot wait for this year to finish to get her out of this hell hole.

Kids with a disadvantage/learning gaps/ADH are completely overlooked and ignored at this school. Teachers, counselors and the Principal do nothing to help. Completely disappointed in the school and the district as I tried repeatedly to transfer my child and was told no time after time. Every time I was scheduled to have a meeting with her teachers about her progress, it was canceled, rescheduled or just flat-out postponed due to "other priorities."

I am a 7th grade student here. I am not one of those students that is coming to write a review because I hate my teachers for giving me bad grades for not taking accountability for my homework or studying. I get good grades and I behave in class. I genuinely want to inform people of what really goes on here. The classroom is beyond disrespectful. Kids throwing stuff across the room, fights, yelling, etc. The teachers have given up, yes, but they don't know how to control the kids anyways. If the teacher can even get a chance to teach without getting interrupted, it is so nonproductive. Honestly. We are genuinely unprepared for tests because we are not taught the material. Before even being taught, we are handed worksheets and expected to pretty much complete it ourselves. We also watch a documentary or video for the class period and required to take our own notes, which is fine every once in a while but the kids just talk, yell, and disrupt class the whole time so it's impossible to hear and learn. The academic aspect of this school is a joke. The teachers are too inexperienced or just not good. I heard so many good things about this school so I was excited to go, but honestly pretty disappointed.

I am very disappointed in the experience we had at this school. Our first experience was with an unconcerned Guidance Counselor who, after getting my sons paperwork together. dropped him off at his first class and never spoke to him again. My son was at the top of his class in math before we moved to this school, however, in very short order he was struggling. the teacher claimed poor attention - something that was never a problem before. We paid for a private tutor to get him through the year and he ended up with A's and B's for the rest of the year and a half he was there. The teacher initially thought he was cheating. How sad. ELA insists that a large part of the students' grade is based on a scrap book. Imagine 14 year old boys scrap booking. If the parents couldn't afford stickers or other embellishments, the score was lowered because it wasn't scrap booky enough. Content, in my opinion wasn't the important aspect of this grade - just appearance from a scrap booking aficionado. When I asked in the beginning of the year of all his main teachers to see examples of what they were looking for so that 8th grade would go better than 7th, I was told that they had no money for copies so I couldn't see any. Tests were not handed back so the child could learn from their mistakes for the same reason. My son stayed on the A/B honor roll so I am not a parent complaining about grades. I am an educator myself and am appalled by some of what I heard. Tests not being graded for over a week, Scrap book grade came out after the final grades had to go in. Math teacher didn't have the lists of what was still showing open for each kid until after grades were tallied and the response was "it's too late now to change anything". Bad leadership to allow any of this to continue.

Lufkin Road Middle School has been a fabulous middle school experience for our son. The teachers are excellent, the kids are extremely behaved and the building is relatively new. The administration and front office staff are very responsive.

Negative and disappointing experience overall unfortunately, especially with the principal and ELA teachers. I agree with other comments posted here about their poor facilities, handling of boys, apathetic overwhelmed teachers, anti-parent Principal. On the other hand, some exceptional Science/Math/Social Studies/Gym/art teachers in my view.

Our experience with our two children at Lufkin was disappointing. There are too many female teachers that have no idea how to teach boys. We've had more than one teacher say non-constructive, criticism of the kids, delivered in immature ways. The administration at the top level seems hands off and at least one of the Asst. Principals seems burned out or at a minimum is old school in approach. Am so happy this part of their school career is behind them. One very solid redeeming quality is the athletic program that is led by an outstanding Athletic Director, Coach W. Despite having no workable gym on site and no track for the track team, he pulls off coordination of events effortlessly. He makes it work with incredibly embarrassing facilities that do not give the basketball and track teams a home court/field.

My two sons go to Lufkin and they, and we, as parents, can't wait to change to the new middle school being built in Apex. Apathetic overwhelmed teachers, anti-parent Principal, and ridiculous homework. Awful.

Very organized school. Teachers are great and they motivate the kids to keep up with their grades . Principal is very involved in school events . Schools ranks higher among others middle school around wake county . The front desk people are always nice and helpful . There's a lot of homework, tests, quizzes and other grades assignments weekly. I consider this a positive thing as it encourages the kids to study daily versus study the whole content only the night before a big test. The first quarter of 6th grade was a bit challenging for my son , but he put a lot of effort and managed to be an AB Honor Student . I believe the study routine it will help greatly when he goes to High School !

This school is full of bullies that the teachers cannot or will not control. Some teachers are even intimidated and bullied themselves. The principal cares more about sending fundraiser emails than dealing with real problems like dealing with bullies, genuinely engaging parents and effective planning for students across all tracks.STEM program is a joke. My kid was in Track 4 and could not participate in robotics because the "slots were already filled by other tracks". Are you kidding me? So what track you are in determines access to resources? When we had a problem with bullying (3 times by the same girls) the Vice Principal did nothing...no suspensions, not a darn thing except an "investigation" after which he basically stopped short of saying that the bullying was my daughter's fault (there were no witnesses therefore there was no bullying). The academics are also a joke. They don't do any real writing and all classes use mind numbing "worksheets" in lieu of high quality thoughtful instruction and assignments. They don't allow students to take graded test home...I wonder why?I felt so bad for sending my daughter to this awful hell of a school. She is now going to St. Mary Magdeline which is expensive but worth every penny over sending her to one of the worst and most mismanaged schools she has ever attended

The only reason I don't rate this school 2 star, because its definition: bad. Although the school by itself isn't bad, but as a parent's of a student who studies there I would rather describe as a factory. Teachers are very uninterested to inspire students (although it could be part of their exhausting daily grinds coming from the certain political pressures) Other than trying get through their curriculum they have no interest and looks like knowledge how to expend the children' interest. My child doesn't study home at all and still an A student, yet the school does nothing to challenge these kids. No effort was put in to Spelling bee, Geo bee, (teacher hardly knew when is the competition because they were so busy just to keep up with the politics if they want to keep either their job or salary. Us parents, technically know nothing what goes around in the school unless we have an articulate child, who is willing talk about the daily things. I don't blame the teachers (mostly) but the leadership who gives more emphasis -just look at LRM school home page- for events that has nothing to academic achievement, than recognizing their hard working students. It is definitely a disappointment at least the leadership in the point of comparing to Oak Grove Elementary. And just as my last thought I just saw one of my fellow parent's review and had the exact experience and opinion "I'm not sure what awards program the reviewer below this attended, but I have to agree that it was a mess and the principal did neglect to recognize an entire group of students." Principal Sinders is either not aware what goes around in her "court" or really incompetent to understand what is her job truly.

Recent test scores were released and Lufkin Road Middle School was in the top 5 middle schools in a 3-4 county area. Great leadership! High expectations!
