This school is 100% not worth the tuition. They generally seem to have no idea what they are doing.

I love that my kiddo has an opportunity to go to school with other kids that share some of the same challenges. The staff are exceedingly pleasant and helpful. I don't ever worry about bullying like I did when my child was in public school. All these things being said, I do not like the chaotic atmosphere and the "run down" feeling the school projects. Based on student occupancy, the school is bringing in over 1 million dollars a year. However, the physical facility is not reflective of that. The kids are allowed to eat (and subsequently spill) food and drinks anywhere, so the carpets are often a disaster. Last year, I know of two teachers that came to school to work even after they were showing signs of covid, not wearing masks, and infected several other kids and staff with covid. That really pissed me off. Lastly, I do feel my child is falling way behind their public school peers academically because there is little focus on excelling.

Overall, we are profoundly grateful for this school, as are most of the families there. Our son has a home there where he feels welcomed and encouraged. He is also engaged intellectually, and he is a highly gifted learner. My one quibble is that I wish he were pushed a bit more academically. But on balance, the benefits of him being in a nurturing place where he is academically engaged and socially welcomed and nourished are priceless.

Ann Arbor academy has been a God send for my granddaughter. Main stream schools couldn't do it and home schooling didn't work. Teachers are patient but hold students accountable. No bullying! My granddaughter is very comfortable and is very happy and has really blossomed. We live 1 hour away and so worth the drive .

Ann Arbor Academy has been a lifesaver for my daughter. She struggled so much in the huge high school environment that she just shut down. From the first day at Ann Arbor Academy she has been happy and involved; a complete turnaround for her. And her anxiety is now almost non-existent.Thank you, Ann Arbor Academy for providing the supportive and positive environment that she has been needing! I hardly recognize this happy kid.

Ann Arbor Academy was a godsend for our son. We had suffered through several stressful years trying to "make it work" in the public schools. Everything became easy the day he started at A3. The teachers focus on the child's strengths and are accepting of all abilities. My son has a place where he belongs, where he is supported and loved. You can't put a price tag on that.

We wanted to place our son in Ann Arbor Academy. The staff was so kind on the tour, but then when our son joined the classroom for a day it all fell apart. The staff was impatient with the transition. Our son was upset that day because it was a new environment for him. They called us 3 hours early to come pick our son up because they couldn't handle it. They were insensitive and unkind to our family. We are already dealing with raising a child with special needs, we didn't need this added to our life. After this experience, I would never trust this school with any child with special needs. If there was ever any behavioral concern, I would expect them to kick your child out.

Things I like about the school: Very accepting and supportive of kids with differences. Things the school could do better: Very chaotic atmosphere. My belief is that most kids with learning differences do better with structure; where homework is clear; expectations are clear; and routine is maintained. Ann Arbor Academy's "easy-going" atmosphere is sometimes detrimental to its goals.

Wonderful school!! For the first time my son feels like he belongs. They treat the students great and there is no bullying!! My son was a perfect fit for this school. If your child has a learning challenge of any kind ADHD, add, autism, etc, i highly recommend this school. Love the class size. The teachers are all nice and helpful. It's like a family. You will feel at peace because your child will be happy!!!!!!! I wish I discovered it sooner. If you parents are far & debating about the drive, its well worth it. I live a half an hour away. Shoot for the stars, your child will thrive in this school.
