My 3 years at Proctor (Sophomore - Senior) were the 3 longest, worst years of my life. My social experience here was so crippling that it bled into everything else, from grades to athletics and beyond. For the college your kid is likely to find their way into after this, your money would be better spent elsewhere. It says a lot about the quality of the graduates from here that the most successful individual who would have been in my graduating class was expelled on a minor drug infraction instead.I can say one glowingly positive thing about Proctor; and that's how incredible their athletic facilities are for a small private boarding school. Where else can you find a private ski hill with multiple lifts, a lodge, and ski jumping? The facilities are excellent and if your child is a future winter sports star Proctor will serve their needs better than maybe any other school out there. If that's not your deal, there are multiple fields and even more teams for Football, Soccer, Baseball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Tennis, and surely others I'm forgetting. But if that's not you, stay far, far away.Beyond that, being away from home prior to college was a huge advantage over my classmates when I arrived at college- I had years of experience already and wasn't a lost lamb for the first few months.

my experience at proctor was nothing short of incredible. I was one of the only students in my college dorm that felt prepared to be in college in regards to my skills; I was able to manage my time with work, sports, and socially, and I was not surprised by the amount of work I got in college. Proctor also allowed me to be completely immersed in a culture during my trimester abroad; i lived with a local family in a small town in France, and went to the local high school. By the time I had graduated from Proctor, I felt completely ready to not only go to college, but excel in college.

I am very fortunate to have two children attending Proctor Academy. Ever since the moment I walked onto campus, I knew this was the place for them. Proctor is an excellent community where the students, faculty, and administration are welcoming and supportive, the facility and campus immaculate, the academics rigorous and challenging, and the athletics competitive and sporting . It is a GREAT place and the best kept secret in New Hampshire. A true gem.
