Communication from the teachers about incidences at school is very poor. My child has had other students be physical when them (pushing, pulling hair, biting, etc.) and none of the teachers they have had relay that information home. Especially when it is repeated incidences with the same student(s) initiating it, indicating a clear pattern of behavior, there should be communication home from the teacher to the families of all students involved and a clear plan of action put in place. The curriculum is good and I think the actual teaching/learning aspect of the school is fine, but there seems to be a lot of behavioral issues with very little recourse from teachers and staff. My child has said that when they tell an adult that another student is bothering or hurting them, they do not feel like the adults listen or care.

The school, teachers, and principal have gone out of their way to provide the best possible education for my son with special needs. Way to go Hawthorne, I am very pleased.
