I would of given them 0 stars but I can't but if you think about taking your kid there, then RUN.

Terrible, worst decision I ever made. The violence is too much.

Young teachers w too many kids in the rooms. 1:40 in academic courses and 1:60 in music, gym, health. WAY too many students to teacher.I gave them 2 stars because they have a great model with Saturday school, Friday teacher teams/professional development, uniforms, and structure BUT too many kids to make that work for the whole. I'm certain there are kids on meds that don't need them, just to focus. We almost put our son on some until we had him go to a psychologist for a full diagnostic. Akron Prep had him going to school on Saturdays because he was supposedly performing below grade level but the psychologists actually discovered his logic and reasoning is above grade level but he has a processing delay. The school would have never discovered that because there is no one on one attention. Our son was just a number. I kept hearing it's his focus... My advice to parents is don't take your kid to his/her medical doctor for attention deficit, have them evaluated by a licensed therapist. Our son didn't need any medicine at all. In fact they just found him to be a typical boy in a school with too many children. He's out of there now!

I will be honesty academic at this school is good. My children grades are good and I see what they are trying to put in our children but this school has serious communication issue. The communication alone is why I'm taking my kids out. They never stick to their word and there was a lot of broken promises that they said the school would do and it has never been done. There are a few teachers I love and do everything that the school said they was suppose to do. OMG! Transportation SUCKS. There have been times where they couldnt get your child home due to their mess up and parents was mad that they would have to leave work early and get their kids because the school can't make sure everyone get home safe. My kids don't come until 4:30 and never have time but to do homework and chorus. Also if you have little ones going to this school they will have no recess. This school doesn't believe in recess and I didn't like that my kids was coop in class all day without at least a break to be a kid and a bunch of energy ball up. They are like zombies when they come home. I say do not send you kids to this school if the things I mention matter. I a firm believer that you should experience it yourself but in this situation SAY NO TO THIS SCHOOL.

This school has helped my grandchild immensely. My grandson had some behavioral issues at the beginning of the school year. The teachers, counselors and even the principal worked with our family through conferences, phone calls and interventions with my grandson. He has since become a merit role student and has won an award for Relentlessness. The staff is top notch and if you are truly invested in your child's education, they will work with you to achieve results. This school teaches focus and discipline that our children really need. I say that the faculty in this school really cares about the students.

There is a miscommunication issue at this school. Teachers are not properly communicating with parents. The structure of this school is a issue. The structure of the school is not helpful. My child has missed more days of school than being in school because of the structure. How will a child succeed if they miss more days than being in school? And even with the strict structure why is there still bullying going on and children threatening other children? The structure is not very beneficial. Negative reinforcement breaks a child down emotionally. More positive reinforcement works best. The staff in this school lacks effective communication skills. If your child is a social butterfly then this is not the school for you. If you want a strict environment where your child might miss many days of school then this just may be an environment for your child. If you want a military based principals enforced in a school setting, then this is a school for you. If you are OK with a serious lack of communication then this is the school for you.

This school gives children the structure they need. My child had a tough time adjusting to the discipline at first, but now he loves going to school and actually does his homework willingly. Akron Preparatory School DOES have high behavioral expectations, but if children don't learn to respect themselves, their work, and the value of professionalism at a young age, they are going to be in for a rough time when they enter the real working world. The teachers here are young but they do their job well and they understand the gravity of their position and the need to set an example in urban education.

This is is like a military school. Students are punished for every little thing including detentions for talking, detentions for the simple things. Students are punished more than they are rewarded. My child comes home feeling bad everyday he comes home from this school. There is a huge miscommunication coming from some staff members to the point were issues are not being addressed. My child does not like attending this school and pleads daily to be removed. Saturday school is mandatory for struggling students. That's a plus! Other than that, worst school I have seen by far.
