You know, when you think you're being helpful, by letting someone know there's a problem, or like you give a little honk, because they drove off with the gas pump, and they get mad at you like it's you're fault or something?? That sums up the staff at this school. Incompetent and completely immature.

Chuckey Doak is a wonderful school. The teachers have great communication, very helpful and positive attitudes. It’s been an incredible atmosphere for my son and offers police presence daily to make you always feel safe.

This will be my son's second year here at CDMS and it has not been a good experience. We are not the kind of family that usually has special needs. However, our other son has recently had a tramatic brain injury and so now we do. Special need, is that we need to pick up our child about 5mins early everyday because we can't leave our other son here for too long, and the way they do pick up is beyond me. When I first try explaining this to the secretary, Lana Brown, she literally rolls her eyes at me and walks away. I don't acknowledge because I'm an adult. Later that day the principal calls my husband and tells him that if we are to pick up my son early 1 more time than a truancy officer will be at our house. My husband, now upset and feeling threatened starts to explain the situation, she interrupts him mid sentence and says, "I didn't call to argue". And hangs up the phone. Honestly, my children act better than that. So I call the assistant superintendent, Bill. And he is the same way, acts like I'm the problem and I'm being rude, does not listen tells me to just accept the truancy and he can't help me any further. Really? What is your job then? I call because I have a problem with the faculty, and he puts the blame on me and hangs up. WHAT ADULT ACTS THIS WAY??? Honestly. God help us. These are the folks we let hold our children and lead them. If my child is more mature then all these people I do t think there's hope for us.

My son goes to CDMS and I see a lot of favoritism, lack of tolerance for children with disabilities, and overall a disgrace to the public school system. Teachers are quick to point fingers and punish without evaluation of the entire situation, IF you child has special needs (504, IEP) or has any kind of mental issues, this school will do nothing but frustrate you and make you consider a lawsuit. Do not enroll you child. Reconsider other options. I have several specific situations where punishment was unfair, and the staff will try to "blow smoke" and make you think they are on your side and really care about your child. NOT all teachers at CDMS are this way, but I am very positive several are. Good luck.
