For those who want to live near Carlsbad or Oceanside and still be within an hour's drive of San Diego, Vista has seen more and more attention among new home buyers. What's special about this community is that while it is close to a big city with practically everything you could want, you may find that you don't have a lot of need to venture outside your neighborhood. This is because Vista offers plenty of culture and diversity right inside its city limits. It's rare to find a suburb with as much to offer in the way of the arts and fun hobbies. Movoto would love for you to know what kind of neighborhood you'll be walking into if you expect to live (or even rent) long-term.
What Are the Demographics of the Neighborhood?
Average home prices vary from zip code to zip code, but it tops out at $575,000 with the bottom range being $450,000. It should be noted that this area jumped 22 percent in one year on the market, with a 32 percent decrease in inventory. The people who live here are generally White with education being especially important to its people. More than two thirds of the population holds a Bachelors degree or higher. The largest percentage here in terms of age is between 40 and 64, with 24 percent between 25 and 39. Of the total population, about a fifth of the people work in Retail with Education and Health coming in at a close second place. Close to half the people here rent, depending on what zip code you're in, with average rental rates between $1,000 and $1,500 a month. About a fourth of the people here live in non-family households, with a fourth being married with children and a fifth living alone.
What Is The Quality of Life?
There's more to do here than just hit up the theaters. Craft beer is a passion of many in the community, so you'll find several breweries to check out so you can settle on your favorite. This city is not meant for people who want to do the bare minimum. High standards and true love and passion mean higher quality wherever you go. The people here are happy to share their hard work with you, regardless of it's a painting or a bottle of your favorite IPA. If you prefer wine, there are also tasting rooms in Vista to try the many local vineyards of Southern California. The weather allows for growth during every month of the year, and the soil has so many rich elements that you can smell before you drink to enhance your experience. Of course, this place is not just meant for the adults.
What Is The Culture?
There are plenty of activities here for families too. Let your kids get into some trouble at the local water park which is open from May to September. Check out the botanical gardens, and let them run around. There are also plenty of general parks here and greenspaces, with an emphasis placed on health and fitness rather than looking as toned and skinny as the latest movie star. Your closest beach is Oceanside, just minutes away. This relaxed coastal town has more surfers than partiers though. The feel of the community both in Vista and Oceanside is generally relaxed, which means that for more exciting times you'll have to go up the coast to Laguna Beach or down the coast to San Diego. All of which are doable on any weekend with fun things to do for all ages.
What Is Vista Best Known For?
If you love the arts, then this is a place for you. The Art Beat on Main Street opened with the goal of increasing people's awareness of art and how it benefits the community. It also features a wine lounge so everyone can enjoy themselves and the beauty around them as they sip delicious varietals of white, red and blush. However, the real emphasis is on the performance arts. The Broadway Theater, the Avo Playhouse and the Moonlight Amphitheatre speaks volumes of just how valuable musicians, performers and actors are to this community. There's the chance to see both local plays and well-known stage productions from musicals to dramas. Southern California attracts so many people who want to become the next big star, but that doesn't mean they give up their dreams if they don't make it to the big screen. You can see the talent and the passion of those right here in what might be considered a mini-version of a huge arts district in a bigger city.
