Hawaii’s climate.
Pearl City
Reputation: Away from the hustle and bustle
Hotspots: Leeward Bowl, Buzz’s Original Steakhouse, G’s Bar Grill
Pearl City is a suburb away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist-laden city and is a haven for those who just want to live an everyday “errands, work, and home” life.
The
schools here are solid, and it’s home to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Locals enjoy date nights at the local cinema, along with good dining and quiet beaches.
Kapolei
Reputation: Affluent long-term residents
Hotspots: Paradise Cove Luau, Roy’s, Ama’ama
Often known as the second city of Oahu, this suburb on the western side of the island includes several exclusive communities such as Makakilo, Barber’s Point, and Ko Olina.
Strong
schools, a huge local water park, an exclusive golf club, and the new Disney Aulani resort draw many here for the wealth of local amenities. With tons of local shopping and dining opportunities, one never lacks for something to do here.
East Oahu
Reputation: Families looking to get away from it all

This is Hawaii’s version of a quiet small town. Residents consider this town to be as close to paradise as one can get. There are no huge hotels or shopping malls. Instead, there’s great local shopping and dining.
Excellent schools, the best in watersports, and miles of white sand beaches at Hanauma Bay make this town a peaceful refuge that’s not too far away from the busy center of Honolulu.
Kaimuki
Reputation: Middle class white collar families
Hotspots: Jewel or Juice, Uncle Bo’s Pupu Bar & Grill, Big City Diner
This quiet, residential area is home to many local residents who want easy access to the amenities of a busy shopping district, but wish to remain separate and maintain their hometown feel.
Residents here love the laidback and relaxed atmosphere in addition to solid schools for their kids. They also enjoy being close to neighboring Kapahulu, where some of the best shops and restaurants on the entire island can be found.
Leeward Oahu
Reputation: Upper middle class Families
Hotspots: Hangouts
This temperate region is located in the lee of the island’s central mountain range. It benefits from low rain, few clouds, and a beautiful coastline. It’s hot, sunny, and dry but full of fun and adventure for locals. Good schools make it an attractive place to live for families.
The Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park is a popular destination. For those looking for shopping, the Waikele Premium Outlets offer just about everything you could ask for.
