1. Boiseans Know Anyone Who Pronounces It “Boy-zee” Is Definitely A Tourist

It’s "Boy-see," thank you very much. Somehow the incorrect pronunciation has gotten around, and it’s the first thing Boiseans will correct newcomers on the moment they get into town. It's really not that hard to remember.

2. The Broncos Are The Pride Of Every Boisean

It’s simply a fact that all Boiseans have major Bronco pride on game day—and pretty much any other day. Who wouldn't be proud of that Smurf Turf, right? But whether it's football, basketball, soccer, it doesn’t really matter—all the Boise State University games are equally important, because they're chances to show some love for their Broncos and get a little wild.

3. Not Every Boisean Is A Potato Farmer...

Sure, there’s the Boise potato drop (who needs New York City's big fuss, anyway?), but that’s a relatively new phenomenon. Boise is in fact a city, so it’s not exactly overrun with potato farms. You'll have to go out of town to see more of those. Not that locals are complaining about having a potato bounty so close by, of course. Because they still love it.

4. But They Still Would Rather Be Outside

Everyone in Boise is outdoorsy, or they get that way pretty fast. Then again, with all the white water rafting, hiking and biking along scenic trails or the Greenbelt path, and resort-level skiing all practically in their backyards, how could they not be? It's basically in their blood.

5. Treefort Music Fest Is Worth It, Every Single Year

You’ll find live music in Boise pretty much every night, which is awesome in its own right. But Boiseans would never dare miss the Treefort Music Fest. Tickets sell out within minutes, so you’d better be ready when they go on sale. Or make friends with someone who has an in.

6. Boiseans Don’t Go Anywhere Near Eagle Road During Rush Hour

Eagle Road traffic is the worst. Sure, it’s no L.A., but for Boiseans it’s basically hell. Seriously, they know any>/em> other route to your destination would be better.

7. A Float Down The River Would Make Any Boisean’s Day

Sure, Boiseans love a good adrenaline-filled day of white water rafting, but sometimes you've gotta take things a little slower. And when your river has rest stops along the way, you know floating is serious business. Summer just wouldn’t be summer in Boise without a float down the river in tubes or rafts, letting all their worries just fade away for a while. It's the perfect way to savor the season.

8. Want Brunch? Folks In Boise Say Stick A Fork In It And Have A Bloody Mary

Or just, you know, eat at Fork. Boiseans always build their own Bloody Mary with lots of bacon along the way. Of course, it’s not all about the Bloody Mary bar (Fork has awesome food, too) but really, it’s all about the Bloody Mary bar. Because why wouldn’t it be.

9. For Boiseans The Fourth Of July Means Fireworks Everywhere

Ann Morrison Park is the city-approved location, but that doesn’t stop enthusiastic locals from shooting off fireworks basically everywhere to celebrate the Fourth of July. They’re legal in the city starting near the end of June until July 5—but locals don’t bother to wait until July 4 to actually start celebrating.

10. Table Rock Is Rough, But Every Boisean Knows The View Is Totally Worth It

Whether they hike or bike to the top, every Boisean knows the view from Table Rock is nothing short of stunning. It'll take your breath away every time. It's not an easy trip and gets pretty steep, but once you're up there it's easy to forget how tired you are. And multiple trails means Boiseans get a little variety with their workout, too. With one heck of a reward. Did we miss anything? Tell us what you think is unique about Boise in the comments below!
