Culture

White Marsh is a quiet, primarily residential community created to take advantage of the undeveloped space around I-95 Express. The culture tends to reflect many of Baltimore's values, such as Old Bay as a seasoning in most of the restaurants you go to, but you don't have a fast paced urban feel to the area. Instead, it's the type of suburb you can raise a family in, with quiet streets throughout the northern part of this area. At the middle of White Marsh, you have the centerpiece mall. The White Marsh Mall provides a wide variety of big box stores and franchised restaurants, although you have a few specialty retailers and locally owned restaurants making their home in this large mall. When you think the classic American mall experience, you're getting it here. Most of your shopping needs, outside of grocery stores, can be handled at this central location. For some options outside of big box stores, you can take a look at the Avenues at White Marsh. This is part of the downtown area and features small businesses and local entertainment. Live music concerts and other events are held here, and while there's some chain stores, you get much more of a focus on the local Maryland flavor.  The shopping center also displays local art on its avenues, so this is another way to experience White Marsh's culture.

You're surrounded by large forests throughout the undeveloped land near the city, as well as greenspaces that were left in place as the city was developed. There's also a large park, called Honeygo Run, which provides youth sports, outdoor recreation, movie nights, walking trails, and other activities. It's situated just north of White Marsh and offers a convenient way to enjoy the scenic areas Maryland has to offer. These areas are particularly stunning in fall once the leaves start changing colors.

Quality of Life

Due to White Marsh's easy access options to I-95, commuting to Baltimore is a relatively painless experience. The typical commute time is 28.7 minutes, which is about the amount of time it takes to drive down into Baltimore. Due to the number of stores and other businesses in the area, there are employment opportunities available locally. Commuting to towns close to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border is also possible due to the expressway's proximity. This area is quiet and peaceful, making it ideal for raising a family in a calmer environment than Baltimore's urban center. Most of the stores and businesses are larger franchises and chains, which provides familiarity and the reassurance that you'll have access to the businesses you need, when you need them. Baltimore is also convenient for weekend recreation, whether you want to stroll around Inner Harbor or catch some of the area's night life.

White Marsh's climate offers four distinct seasons, with spring and fall being relatively short. Summers can be rather hot, however, with the average high temperatures in July reaching 88 degrees Fahrenheit . Winter can get cold, but an average of 24 degrees F makes it mildly so. This area can see some snow, with 20.6 inches throughout the season. Generally, you don't get exposed to significant extreme weather conditions, although the occasional tropical storm or blizzard can come through this area.
