Although Bee Cave TX was not incorporated until 1987, the area has had a long history and stands for the same ideals today as it did in the 1850's when Dietrich Bohls settled there. At that time Austin had reached a population of 900 which was considered big city in Texas' early history. Bohls made a home between Barton Creek and Little Barton Creeks to escape the confines of city life. That ideal binds past to present as Bee Cave, which was named for the huge hives of Mexican honey bees found in the area, stands for the same ideal of leaving the big city life to Austin and settling in a beautiful smaller town atmosphere. Today Bee Cave is a thriving community where people enjoy settling down after their commute to Austin.

If you love the water, you are in luck. Nearby Lake Travis offers ample opportunity for fishing, boating, water-skiing, jet skiing, and many other water sports. The Bee Cave Public Library has several activities with a luncheon the first Wednesday of every month. Story times for children are held several times a week. A knitting club, chess club, BEE Crafty for craft lovers, Baby Bumblebees, and a special "Seuss on the Loose" event that is a family-fun day celebrating the works of Dr. Seuss.
