Lakeway is a small city in Travis County on Lake Travis. This community is an exurb, or prosperous area, in the Greater Austin area. The city of Lakeway is only 6.1 square miles, with 0.3 square miles of the total being water.
The town began when The Lakeway Inn was built in 1963. The community has been growing ever since. So has the hotel, which is now a full service resort with 168 rooms.

The population is primarily white at 92.4%, followed by 7.3% Hispanic or Latino, 1.0% African American and 0.3% American Indian and Alaska Natives. The Story Walk encourages children to read and get moving at the same time. They follow a trail and read a page of a book on display, then walk down the trail to the next page. Lakeway residents enjoy this event with neighbors and groups of children.
At the annual Easter egg hunt, Eggstravaganza, children split up into age groups so that all kids have a fair chance to fill their baskets with goodies. There is a petting zoo, spin art, an Easter Bunny to visit and glitter tattoo artists on site as well as snow cones. The Easter event is a day-long event of fun for all.
