For years my child was failing in reading and math and they just kept passing him along. At the end of 4th grade I spoke with the school about holding him back a year because I felt he was way behind where he should be and even they were telling me he was. However they talked me out of it, gave me reasons why it's not a good idea. I figured they knew what they were talking about. Once again, nothing changed the following year. I decided to pull him out and started homeschooling and eventually pulled my other kids out of the younger grades to do the same. I don't think it's a horrible school, I just think the teachers don't have time to cater to different learning styles....no school can, that's why homeschooling has worked for us.
