My child’s experience at this school was not great. The teacher was not supportive or caring. She showed favoritism, which was obvious to the students. She rarely handed back any work the students did. I have to say that it was difficult to know what they were learning in class. The principal wasn’t very supportive either. The school may be in a good school district, but academically it isn’t very rigorous.

I can’t recommend this school. It doesn’t seem to engage the families as partners in children’s learning. Academically, it’s not rigorous. I also don’t get a friendly vibe either. Overall, it lacks in so many areas, which is a shame.

From my experience, the teachers don’t seem very approachable and caring. My child doesn’t seem to be motivated to learn or enthusiastic about going to school, which is very disappointing to see.

La Crescenta Elementary has an amazingly kind, effective principal and wonderful, calm, involved teachers. Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Lapostal are stand-outs, but all of the teachers are smart and caring. Both of my kids love school (which is surprising!) because their teachers are fully engaged and really believe in what they do. I love this school and feel so grateful that my kids are lucky enough to go here.

I am amazed how efficient the school can be. I love the teachers, they are fun and amazing, but from what I heard from other parents some teacher and students are rude and racist. I'm scared if my child will be influenced or leave a broken child by this. But overall the teaching is organized and seems to be fun for my child

I don't know of any school in La Crescenta that offers GATE after school class taught by a tandem of credentialed 5th grade teachers. For those who have been as desperate as I was trying to meet their kids' need/want to learn/do more, you're probably aware of how expensive most GATE enrichment classes are. La Crescenta elementary has it for free! My child who was just promoted to middle school benefited so much from the GATE program. At 5th grade, there were several field trips for GATE kids including whale watching (any idea how much this costs in summer schools for gifted? not to mention time kids need to spend taking those schools' eligibility tests? the stress/anxiety for kids just to be able to participate in an activity such as whale watching?).

My kids just started at La Crescenta elementary. They have had an easy transition. I love that we can walk to school everyday and life is a little bit easier. They both really like their teachers, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Bucur.
