Not a good school for the students who fight all the time.

I recently graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and all I can say is that it was bad. For all four years of my high school career, the A/C was constantly broken, and when “fixed”, 75% of the time it’d break down again within the next day or two. The school is severely overpacked and nobody does anything about it. Within my last two years there, it just got more and more cramped, and now according to a few friends I have still at Choctaw, the hallways will be at complete standstills for at least two minutes due to how many students there are. The guidance counselors were either never available, looked at you like you had ten heads, or acted like you were heavily inconveniencing them with whatever you had to talk about. I was trying to get my transcripts from the school a few months ago so I could enroll in college classes and the guidance office just laughed, went “well that sucks”, and hung up. The front office ladies? Forget about it. They literally have the simplest job in the school and yet they still don’t know how to do it. They’ll also constantly be extremely crabby, as if someone came in and ruined their whole week. They barely help the teachers (if even at all) and they only care about you if you’re the football team, the cheer team, the Indianettes, or the Stylemarchers. If you’re not any of those? They could genuinely care less about you. I, 100%, would have transferred to FWBHS if it wasn’t for the fact that I was a Stylemarcher. They also do not care one bit about your mental health and the only guidance/office person that cared is no longer there. They have never been open to parent-conferences unless your child has done something wrong. All in all, I can confidently say that the only things that were good about that school was the band and a handful of teachers. In conclusion, if you’re a parent reading this and are able to send your child to a different school, please do. Because Choctaw has become/is a very bad school and I wouldn’t even wish the torment of going there onto my worst enemies.

Honestly I only went to this school for the band. Academics are horrible the teachers are even worse The school is very dirty lunch room floors look they have never been cleaned same goes with the bathrooms. Would not recommend. Unless you want to be in the best band in Florida.

The teachers don't care for the most part and assume that students are stupid. They assign hours of homework that doesn't actually help us understand the material, it really just confuses us further. Then they'll give us a test on the material (after they don't teach it), with different terminology on the test than was in the book or on our homework as well as never being mentioned in class. Most of the staff could care less how we do in our classes, all they care about is getting their paycheck every two weeks. They push their IB (International Baccalaureate) program way too hard and then if you fail their little test at the end of your senior year, all your hard work was for nothing because you will not get any credits. One good thing I will say about this school is that there is a ton of school spirit and the Stylemarchers (band) is incredible.

As a student here at Choctaw for 4 years i would recommend anybody's child to attend this amazing school. The school has a great atmosphere with multiple excelling programs that have been successful for a while now such as IB, Band, ROTC, All Sports, and more ! yes i'm exaggerating when i say there are a million cameras so your child's safety is in good hands. As apart of being being a student here for 4 years i wouldn't choose any other school. This is more than an A+ school, it is a school that can lead your child into becoming a mature, responsible, and smart young adult in the real world. In other words... #GBG !
