My child is in 1st grade at Smith and it is everything I hoped it would be. There is a community culture that fosters family relationships and the learning culture is beyond the classroom. Also, there is diversity and Smith does a good job of celebrating it. My daughter comes home often telling me about other cultures and their customs. There has been some turnover in administration in the past 2 years but honestly, it does not seem to have had a negative impact. I am pretty involved with the school and am very pleased.

My kid never felt welcomed in this school and he refuse to go to school every single days. I should have known that this is not the right school during the registration process, the staffs are rude and not helpful at all. My kid was bullied and discriminated and we constantly received negative comments, which is totally not what he usually behaved. I have reached out and show our concern and none of them much cared about this matter, especially if you are colored or minority.

We have a 1st grader at Sarah Smith and have had a fabulous experience. Both our kindergarten and 1st grade teachers have been amazing and have taken the time to go above and beyond for our son. We also were able to take advantage of free Saturday tutoring and have really enjoyed getting to know the other parents at the school.

If your child has a learning disability, it is very challenging to get help at this overcrowded school. The support teachers were really helpful and nurturing but the actual teacher, was not. Teaching seemed more like a job for her rather than a passion. Like maybe she got a degree in education but she doesn't really like children. Overall, this school was very disorganized and I had to constantly follow up to keep things on track. The principal sent tons of emails and liked to make announcements about the PTA but when it came down to resolving issues, she passed the responsibility to other teachers. In other words, you can forget about receiving a callback from her. The PTA was always asking for money and honestly that seemed to be the focus of this school...raising money for the PTA. While the PTA is a great asset to have, I wish they would focus more on the quality of the education. Yes, it's nice to have an iPad for each student but if the teachers are not great, then all of the fancy gadgets don't mean much. In conclusion, just because this school is in Buckhead doesn't mean its better. Don't be fooled and make the same mistake I did.

A waste of a year of our son's schooling. It's not the same "bubble" it used to be like others in the Buckhead APS district, even the administration admitted that.

We have had children at Sarah Smith over the last 8 years - and have really loved it. For being what we figured is a large population of kids, in our experience we were happy that it feels made to be a small, friendly, personal, neighborhood school. Our children have always enjoyed going to school, felt supported, challenged, and encouraged by their teachers. We look forward to school events - such as Science night, the Fall Festival, Arts appreciation night and kids gallery, Robotics, running club, Family Bingo night - the list goes on for extracurricular opportunities. Plus a very convenient afterschool program in-house. The principal is wonderful to boot. I would rate our experience as top-notch. It’s been a great little-big school for us.

We have had two children at this school and have an excellent experience! The teachers have been outstanding. The PTO and parental involvement helps makes this school so wonderful. Very impressed with the support and daily interaction from the Administration. One student is now in middle school and Smith definitely prepared him well for this. The other student is moving strong and having a well-rounded experience coming home happy, but very much challenged every day.

Great school!!! I have 2 kids and have loved every aspect of the school. On of my kids needs extra attention and the school has been fantastic to work with. They are practice, communicative and understanding. We couldn't be happier and are blown away with the support we have received. The teachers are amazing and the parent involvement is impressive. Its a warm and welcoming environment- we are lucky to have this school!

We are not many years at Sarah Smith, but I can say that we love the school we had an amazing experience with the teachers and we are very impressed by how the parents are involved around the school, it makes a huge difference. They have specialized help for kids with extra need. Communication is excellent, administration always open to listen to parents and make changes if need.

We are in our fifth year at Sarah Smith and have had an overall excellent experience at the school. My children have had some incredible teachers and love going to school. Not only have that had great classroom experiences, they have taken advantage of many of the extracurricular opportunities available. I love seeing them challenged academically and thriving as students. We love being a part of our community school- the parent support for the school is huge- so many parents always willing to help out and be involved, which make a big difference!

Never felt welcomed. They made my children feel less than due to their testing scores.

This school is leaning on past greatness. Overcrowding, no direction from teachers on the various student reading/math levels - it’s very disappointing. The teachers are all over the place from the teacher who is responsive to emails to the teacher who can’t even be bothered. Also when sickness/lice/etc occurs the ENTIRE school is not made aware only a few classrooms that “may” be effected. My child comes home overly bored and unfocused despite her 3rd grade level reading and math level an in Kindergarten. No help to keep her motivated even if she didn’t get into the gifted program. Just frustration all around. We are waiting it out for one more year. And make strides to go elsewhere.

We have had a great experience with SRS during our time here. The teachers are very engaged and the parents are highly involved. The leadership is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to educate the kids and provide a well rounded education for them.

This used to be a good school. It has lower standards than it used to have. It is also very over crowded. The teacher turn over rate is high. The majority of the teachers are young and have very little experience.

Amazing school, great communication (almost overwhelming from fellow parents and directly from teachers) and great support. I couldn't imagine a better start for my two children (one whom has graduated from SRS and one who is in 5th grade and will this year). Fantastic experience.

Sarah Smith has been and continues to be a blessing to our family. It is a neighborhood school filled with teachers and administrators that possess a love of learning and a love for our children. I have found the staff to be welcoming, warm and caring. My children have received a first-class education and are prepared each year for the tasks ahead. I am grateful for the school and to all the teachers and administration that go above and beyond to make it an extradordinary school.
