The contractors, Tom and Dan Kewaygeshik, a native American carpenter and a native American mason, utilized only hand tools during the construction process. The Tamarack beams were all hand hewn, the eve toughs were carved out of cedar saplings, and the logs were leveled with running water. The home has had only four owners in 74 years. It was built for C.E. Ferrell from Detroit. In 1952 it was purchased by E. Tutrow from Hartford City, Indiana. In 1966 it was purchased by C. Juday of New Castle, Indiana. In 1983 it was purchased by Steve Alexander who is the current owner.
