1. Everyone In Plano Has A Bike Jersey In Their Closet
Besides being the best city for bicyclists in the entirety of the great state of Texas, Plano was also the birthplace of Lance Armstrong (and regardless of what he did once he got to the Tour de France, you gotta give him credit for getting there).
What makes Plano so bikeable? Try the recently constructed bike paths, and its part of an intercity plan to connect many of the suburbs in Collin and Dallas Counties via bike.
2. A Planoan’s Favorite Weekend Is Whenever The Balloon Festival Is In Town
There’s nothing quite like seeing the sky fill up with all kinds of giant, festive balloons, except maybe getting the chance to ride up with them. If you’re not up for taking to the skies, rest assured that the amazing balloons are wonderful from the ground, and everyone in Plano knows that the balloon glow after sundown is what ties the whole weekend together.
3. Folks In Plano Are Crazy Proud Of Their Downtown
With the 15th Street Station, new shops steadily stacking up over the past few years and the HDPA’s moves to make Plano’s downtown the envy of the entire Metroplex, it’s easy to see why Plano is so proud of their burgeoning downtown, and why they know it’s the place to be to experience the best of the best in their city.
4.People In Plano Don’t Get What You Mean By “Unemployment”
Longtime hometown for big companies like Frito-Lay and J. C. Penney, Plano recently had a big industry boom when the Toyota headquarters relocated here earlier this year. With all these titans of industry, it’s easy to see why Plano’s economy is on a major upswing, and futures are looking bright.
5. Because They Know Their Hometown Is On The Rise
Sure, Dallas and Fort Worth may be the reigning heavyweights of the area. But what was once literally a flat farming community well into the ‘50’s has become a booming young metropolis, and with the recent influx of transplants for major companies, plans to build new high-rise condos, and rise of downtown, there’s no doubt Plano is the next big thing.
6. Everyone In Plano Knows Driving Is Pretty Much A Requirement
Despite the great biking infrastructure being built up, getting around Plano, much less the surrounding area, has been nigh impossible without a car. Sure, the DART comes through here, but choosing that over your own personal vehicle is an illogical decision to everyone in Plano.
7. Plano Folks Are All Living Like Beverly Hills
People in Plano don’t need to have grown up in the middle of West Plano to consider themselves living the good life. While that part of the city is sometimes compared to California’s 90210 zip code, the truth is the rest of Plano is doing just fine too, thank you very much.
8. By “Boring” You Mean Awesome: People In Plano Love How Quiet It Is
Whichever side of the city you’re on, Plano is nice and laidback. And these people have absolutely no problem with that. You won’t hear them complaining that their city is boring or uneventful, because a quiet, peaceful hometown is just what they’ve looking for. Imagine the average blood pressure!
9. No One In Plano Hides How Much They #LovePlano
Earlier just this year, Plano started the #loveplano series, where each month, local residents are invited to post pretty pictures of the city based around a theme. And the entries just pour in.
While there is a content winner, in the end the whole city really wins, because it gets to show off its beauty for the whole world to see. Not that the people didn’t already know their city rocks.
