School Overview
Greenway High School Phoenix became part of the Glendale school system in 1975. The school was named after John Campbell Greenway, a mining engineer, soldier, and U.S. senator with deep ties to the state of Arizona. Glendale has grown since the '70s, and so has Greenway. Since it was established, the school has grown to accommodate over 1,500 students, partially thanks to a large classroom expansion project completed in 2012, funded by a generous 2011 bond.
The Arizona Department of Transportation gives Greenway an "A" rating, and it was listed among U.S. News and World Report's Best High Schools in the Nation. Greenway offers AP classes in mathematics, language arts, biology, government, U.S.history, and world history; because of its focus on practical college prep, it was recognized among the College Board's 2013 National Advanced Placement Districts of the Year.
