Minneapolis, the annual Twin Cities Pride Festival hosted by the local LGBTQ community was created to recognize this group’s unique history in the area, to foster awareness of certain prominent issues, and to celebrate the many steps that have been taken towards equality. It’s one of the country’s largest Pride fests and it’s totally worth swinging through to check out all the live music, festivities, and the parade.

A music festival thrown at the Walker Art Center, Rock the Garden is one local event that just keeps getting bigger and better. An annual rock show with tons of awesome alternative acts from all across the nation including people like Silversun Pickups and Afrobeat, if you’re one of those people that can’t help but to tap along with a beat, this is the event for you.
4. There’s One Day In May A Little More Exciting Than The Rest
Featuring a parade, ceremony, and an action packed festival, MayDay is built around huge handmade puppets, masks, music, and street performances. Attending this is a great way to get out and support the local culture of Minneapolis on an annual basis.

Home to 3 full days of art, music, and special attractions, a trip to the Stone Arch Bridge Festival is the perfect way to spend Father’s Day Weekend every year. Not only is it set in a beautiful scene along the river, there’s tons of awesome food and really cool exhibits like the Father’s Day Car Show.
6. Get Yourself Some Holiday Cheer
From the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve, the Peavey Plaza gets transformed into a little European village delivering an awesome holiday experience thanks to the annual Minneapolis Holiday Market event. There’s tons of shopping, food, entertainment, drinks, and of course, holiday spirit.
7. Celebrate Minneapolis In the Best Way Possible
A party that’s built around everything that makes this city so awesome, the Minneapolis Aquatennial is a 10-day festival that truly blows other city fairs around the country out of the water. There are way too many awesome things going here to list them all, but a few of the more popular events include a milk carton boat race, a Torchlight parade, and an explosive fireworks show.

A celebration of the Monarch’s 2,300 mile migration from Mexico to Minnesota featuring tons of delicious food, music, art, and dance representative of the Mexican culture, the Minneapolis Monarch Festival is one of the most unique events in the Twin Cities. Expect to see some awesome costumes, tons of fun activities, and an endless stream of jubilant moods at this annual festival.
9. Can’t Hack That Black Diamond Ski Run? No Problem
If you’re into cross-country skiing, you probably already know about the City of Lakes Loppet event. If you’re not into the sport, one trip to the sidelines of this event will have you claiming you’re a fan. A 35 km cross-country ski race through beautiful urban sections of the Twin Cities, this is one race that you won’t find anywhere else.
10. You Can Never Have Too Much Art In Your Life
Set in a 66-acre park, the Powderhorn Art Fair brings over 180 regional and national artists to a multi-day juried art festival. A celebration of artistic expression, this event strives to engage the community in the present state of arts and crafts.
