1. People In Miami Take A Ton Of Pride In Staying Fit
Miamians are endlessly health and food conscious. If you want to hang out with a Miamian you’re going to have to love Crossfit, join their favorite gym (complete with live DJs and a juice bar, of course), head to Bayfront Park for yoga, or take up jogging on the beach, which is way harder than it sounds. And everyone is obsessing about their latest cleanse, the newest juice bar, the latest detox diet, and their upcoming yoga retreat.
2. People In Miami Live For (And On) Amazing Cuban Food
Every meal involves Cuban coffee, a rushed lunch will find them at the Pollo Tropical drive-thru, and dinner can be a variety of places, but most likely Little Havana, Versailles or Tint y Café. Miami loves fried plantains, yuca fries and ropa vieja (pulled pork), and let’s face it, after all that exercise and the juice cleanse from last week, they can afford a little splurging without throwing their hot bod off track.
3. Miamians Love Showing Off Plenty Of Skin, Since...
In a city full of gorgeous bodies and high temperatures, there’s plenty of skin on display. Miamians aren’t really into clothes. The women usually have more bikinis than actual shirts. It’s totally acceptable to walk around Miami scantily clad—after all, you never know when you’ll be invited to a last minute boat party.
4. Everyone In Miami Is Freakin' Gorgeous
Turns out all that exercise and detoxing kinda pays off. Miami is hot. No, I’m not talking about the weather. You’ll see a lot of washboard abs and perfect bikini bodies all over the city. With all the high profile celebrity parties, pool parties and gorgeous beach days on South Beach, it’s no wonder the hot flock to Miami.
5. To Miamians, Everyone In Town Is Just Future Best Friends
Unlike other cities where you’ll find a snobby attitude over who’s a born and bred local, no one here cares who’s a “real” Miamian and who’s not. If you’re there, they’ll accept you as one of their own. You made it here and that’s what matters. Now pull up a seat and order a drink, because...
6. Folks In Miami Have Created Their Own Language
Miami has more than a bit of Latin flavor—it’s more like a Latin dish with a slice of American cheese on top. Well over half the city speaks Spanish as their first language and if you don’t, you’ll end up learning a mixture of half Spanish, half English: Spanglish. Whether you start out as a Spanish speaker or an English speaker, Spanglish will get you everywhere. It’s really no problema.
7. Miamians Are All MAssive Car Snobs
Speaking of art, the cars in Miami are some of the most beautiful cars in the world. Miamians love their cars and take them fast, gorgeous and expensive. Driving around Miami is a car lovers paradise. Check out the Lamborghini’s on South Beach and the Porche’s on Ocean Drive.
8. Everyone In Miami Is Either An Artist Or An Art Lover
One hour in Miami and you’ll understand how life is art to the inhabitants of this colorful city. Not only will you notice the murals and abundant sculptures and art all over the city, but you’ll also notice that everything is art -- from the architecture and the clothes they wear, to the cars they drive and the drinks in their hands. To Miamians, art is a way of life and everything is meant to be beautiful.
9. Every Day Is A Party For Miamians
While everyone else is bragging that they worked an 80-hour work week, Miamians are Instagramming selfies at the beach on a Monday afternoon. If it’s 9am, they’ve been partying since midnight. If it’s 4 p.m., they’re just getting started. The rest of America is counting down the minutes until Friday night, and Miami’s Friday is just like Miami’s Tuesday - there’s a partying happening everywhere, and no one wants to miss it.
10. No One In Miami Would Ever Live Anywhere But “The 305”
They may complain about the crowded beaches, traffic keeping them from showing off their fast cars and the price to get in the best clubs, but don’t be fooled for a second. You couldn’t pay Miamians to live anywhere else.
