Located in Hendricks County, the town of Brownsburg, Indiana, can be found just west of Indianapolis. In fact, the town itself has easy access to I-74, which leads directly into the city. Spanning just over 11 square miles, what Brownsburg lacks in size, it makes up for with its culture and offerings. Currently, the population is estimated to be around 21,000; the town saw a substantial increase in population after it was named the #1 place to live in Indiana due to its low crime rate, highly regarded school system, and strong economy.

Golf is a very popular sport among those living in the Brownsburg area, so it makes sense that the town itself boasts a number of large golf courses for its locals to enjoy during the warmer months of the year—which are typically from April through September. For starters, there's the Brownsburg Golf Club, which is the most popular among local residents. This course is known for its heavily wooded areas and its rather challenging water hazards, so it's typically best for intermediate to advanced golfers.
There's also the West Chase Golf Club, which has its own 18-hole sprawling course and is located off Holloway Boulevard. This is a popular location not only for golf outings, but for special events such as weddings, too. The backdrop of the course itself makes for a beautiful setting for such events, especially during the summer and fall months.
For racing fans, Brownsburg is also home to Lucas Oil Raceway, a large circuit-racing complex that hosts the ARCA Racing Series each year, among many other races.

You probably wouldn't expect a small town like Brownsburg to have much in the way of haunted attractions, but then you'd be surprised to learn that the town's own Hauntsburg Haunted House is frequently regarded as one of the best haunts in the state. The story behind the Hauntsburg Haunted House, which was built in the 1840s, is that it's haunted by the ghost of Brownsburg's own Oswald Green. The story is that Mr. Green served as mayor of the town in the 1840s, but all of his councilmen mysteriously disappeared. Today, these spirits roam Hauntsburg.
This haunted house is not for the faint of heart, but for those who enjoy a good scare here and there, this is definitely an attraction worth checking out. Keep in mind that it is a seasonal attraction, so be sure to check hours and availability before stopping by.

The main event that the town of Brownsburg holds annually and that many of its citizens look forward to is that of the Brownsburg Festival of the Arts. Specifically, this event takes place each July—usually on a Saturday—and features more than 150 different exhibitors and artists from Indiana and all across the Midwest. Whether you're looking for an original painting, unique jewelry, or hand-crafted woodworking pieces, you'll be sure to find something here that catches your eye.
At this event, there is also a large tented food court that's located close to a main stage where local entertainers put on impressive performances throughout the day. This is a child-friendly event, so be sure to bring the whole family.
You don't necessarily have to hop on I-74 and head into Indianapolis to enjoy some delicious food and drinks. Brownsburg has a few local spots that are worth checking out, including the resident-favorite Brickers Pub. This small pub features both indoor and outdoor seating with lots of televisions. It's a great place to catch your favorite sporting event on TV, and the food here is also quite impressive. Locals enjoy the breaded tenderloins, sandwiches, and hand-crafted salads.
Brownsburg is also home to El Toro Mexican Restaurant, which serves up favorites including burritos, enchiladas, tacos, and more. There's also a daily special, so be sure to ask your waiter or waitress about it when you arrive. Also, the menu for this restaurant is quite large, so be prepared to spend some time combing through your options before reaching a decision.
Brownsburg has a fair amount of parks and green space, which is surprising to many given its relatively small size. Its most populated park is Arbuckles Acres Park, which is located at North Green Street and boasts several walking trails, playgrounds for children, basketball courts, and more. There are also several covered picnic shelters that are available for public use and can even be rented out for special events, such as birthday parties and barbecues. This park is actually the location of the annual Brownsburg Festival of the Arts, and bands or other entertainers will perform here on other occasions throughout the year.
Other popular parks in Brownsburg worth checking out for yourself include Maple Ridge Trail, Stephens Park, Williams Park (great for those with children), and Veterans Memorial Park and Garden. The latter features a large monument that displays the names of war veterans from the area and is located at the entrance to Williams Park, so you can kill two birds with one stone on this visit.
Small in size but big in its offerings, Brownsburg is a great place to live, work, and thrive.
