Described by its own organizers as the “weirdest, most made-up, rag-tag, cut loose, high-spirited, Mardi Gras beaded and candy-filled parade in Hartford,” the Hooker Day Parade is a strange and fun festival that everyone in Hartford can enjoy.

20. Summer Concerts In Elizabeth Park

Yet another free event for the people of Hartford, the concerts in Elizabeth Park take place every Wednesday night during the summer. Locals can pack a picnic, stretch out on the lawn and enjoy every kind of music, from swing to salsa.

21. The Old State House Farmers’ Market

In 1643, the city of Hartford was required to provide its citizens with a public market: thus, the Old State House Farmers’ Market that was born. Now the Old State House Farmers’ Market is the oldest in Connecticut, and provides the people of Hartford with fresh produce and local crafts from early summer to late fall.
