1. Greensboro Restaurants Will Blow The Taste Buds Out Of Your Mouth
Trust me, your taste buds can find what they're looking for in Greensboro. Here's just a quick sample of the awesome that awaits:
- Undercurrent - Great fancy pants french food in Greensboro? Check. Get the duck, it's delicious.
- Cheesecake By Alex - Guess what they do well here?? Yeah, get a cheesecake (of a ton of different varieties) and tell me it isn't good. I dare you.
- Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen - The shrimp and grits makes your eyes light up. And the VooDoo sauce is probably laced with nicotine, because it's addictive.
- Crafted, The Art of The Taco - Eat the gourmet tacos and be happy... As a side note, you have to give Greensboro props for having their restaurant names clearly identify the food to get. :)

2. The Greensboro Coliseum Puts The Roman Coliseum To Shame
Somehow The Greensboro Coliseum complex hosts more than 850 events a year. For those who never want to do math again, that's
more than two a day.
It's one of the most used venues in the country and hosts a list of events that includes:
- Theater
- National music acts
- The circus
- The Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament
Not to be outdone by the Roman Coliseum, the complex also has:
- An amphitheater
- A banquet hall
- The Atlantic Coast Conference Hall of Champions
- And a 2,500 seat aquatic center
3. You're Not Really From Greensboro Until You Know Life Is Better Spent Outdoors
Being outside is a way of life for everyone in Greensboro--and why shouldn't it be?
With the mild Piedmont weather, rolling hills, and variety of vegetation and wildlife, there's always a new park or hike to explore.
The Bog Garden, which offers an elevated boardwalk through seven acres of wetland, is only one of several public gardens around the city. You should definitely experience it.
4. Wait, Not Every City Has Huge Historical Significance All Over The Place?
Greensboro loves it some history.
The International Civil Rights Museum, which opened in 2010, pays tribute to the "Greensboro Four" who staged a sit-in to protest segregation at Woolworth's on February 1, 1960.
Greensboro is also home to the Greensboro Historical Museum and the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, the site of one of the biggest Revolutionary War battles in the south.
5. Everyone in Greensboro Knows That South Elm Street Is The Place To Be
Greensboroians (if that's not a thing, I just made it a thing) take a lot of pride in their downtown, which has seen an influx of investment in the last several years.
Vacant buildings are being turned into restaurants, shops, galleries, antique stores and nightclubs. The city also offers grants for retail space, façade improvement, and other revitalization efforts, meaning this is just the beginning.
6. There Are College Towns... And Then There's Greensboro
There are more than 33,000 students in all of the colleges in Greensboro and they help to make the town what is.
The schools in town include:
- The University of North Carolina at Greensboro
- Guilford College
- North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
- Greensboro College
- and Bennett College
7. You Can Get Your Science On Whenever You'd Like
I swear that real life magic happens at the Greensboro Science Center. I mean, they have a freaking SciQuarium!
For those of you who don't know, the SciQuarium is a ginormous (32,000 sqft) aquarium that focuses on giving you the total aquarium experience. They teach you about the fish, give you back stage tours, and explain everything that goes on.
The Science Center also houses:
- A zoo
- A 3-D movie theater
- and through May, the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever found.
8. Being The Center Of The State Means You Can Have Anything, Any Time You Want
Want to be close to a beach? It's only three hours to the coast.
Mountains more your cup of tea? Two hours away tops.
Dying for a really big city? You can make a weekend trip to DC or Atlanta, both of which are only like five hours away.
And, of course, you're only an hour and a half away from a Panthers game in Charlotte or a Hurricane game in Raleigh.
Life in the middle, my friend, is very, very sweet.
9. The Boro Has A Good Ole', Down To Earth Feel
With a lower cost of living than Charlotte, Durham and Raleigh, Greensboro offers everything without the steep price. If you're a Northeast transplant, you can take your snooty self over to Raleigh; Greensboro is for true Southern folk.
Greensboro is able to maintain the small town feel because most people work blue collar jobs. While there's been a recent increase in education and healthcare work, manufacturing has a bigger presence than in other parts of the state.
Oh, and traffic isn't nearly as bad, which is a huge plus in my book.
10. But A Distinct City Vibe When It's Feeling Sassy
The best thing about Greensboro is that you have that small town feel, with all the big city perks. It knows it's a small town, so it doesn't try to pretend it's more than that.
It's the kind of place where you can get a great taco or grits, take a tour of the many beautiful parks and gardens or go downtown if you want a little more excitement.
When it comes down to it, Greensboro is just everything that's great about North Carolina all wrapped up.
