North Dallas represents some of the most exciting and upscale territory in all of Texas. With neighborhoods like University, Plano, and Richardson. North Dallas is synonymous with good living, exciting economic opportunity, access to the arts, and fine dining. Throughout all of Texas history, Dallas has remained famous for the stability of its upscale culture, and the best and brightest in the city always flock to the north side.

North Dallas Demographics

In 2014 the census reported an estimated 1,281,047 people who call Dallas home. 40,000 of those people live in the suburbs of North Dallas. There was a 7% increase of residents since 2010. The median age for North Dallas is 45.3 years old, contrasting people who live in the heart of the city that average at 31.8 years old. Women outnumber men by a very small percentage .9:1. This area is predominately English speaking with 38% of people speaking Spanish. The population density is predictably more spacious than the heart of down town also. North Dallas has 3,089 people per square feet, while Dallas has 3,536. Good news also that crime has literally been cut in half in Dallas over the last decade due to complex reasons.

Quality of Life in North Dallas

Lynchpin industries have been operating in North Dallas for decades, the most famous of which may be Texas Instruments. This electronics powerhouse has been operating in North Dallas since the 1980's guaranteeing years of employment to Dallas's many citizens. Energy and finance are also represented in this area of the employment picture. Plenty of jobs and access to top of the line health care makes North Dallas not only safe, but affordable. Dallas Morning news correspondent Matthew Watkins wrote about these suburbs “When it comes to life in the suburbs, residents want good schools and safe streets. And they’re willing to go a long way to get them.” Well the good news is that North Dallas really isn't far from the heart of downtown compared to other cities. Just minutes from the Metroplex, North Dallas is in literally the best location. In Richardson, another northern suburb, is The University of Texas in Dallas, home to many great thinkers. Just one of the many colleges throughout the entirety of Dallas, this college has a long history of famous scholars, artists, and adventurers. For the younger students among us , North Dallas has some of the best grade and high schools in all of Texas. The neighborhood demographics show reasonably good test scores for children emerging form high school. When one thinks of the terrain of North Dallas it brings to mind gently rolling hills, beautiful lakes, and well planned towns nestled among the plains. Dallas is a green and growing city, and some of the most beautiful parks and gardens in all of Texas are located in North Dallas. North Dallas is also known for its culture. The financial stability of the metropolis has loaned much energy to the artistic scene, and works of public sculpture and murals are commonly seen on the streets. There is a tradition of excellent live music and club life, even more so than places like Austin at times. North Dallas is very close to the Bohemian college town of Denton, where much of Texas is most influential cultural events have occurred.

North Dallas Neighborhoods

The fact is that North Dallas is often written off as just “the suburbs” is a feeble description for its thriving and colorful communities, restaurants, and entertainment possibilities. University Park is probably the most outstanding neighborhood in the area. Many young families and hip professionals call it home. Because of how exclusive this area is though, you will notice the higher prices. If this area is too high end for your budget, there are many other options. Highland Park is a more affordable middle zone without sacrificing in quality. Highland Park has great schools, shade drenched parks, and plenty to do. Some neighborhoods in the north section of Dallas are perfect for raising kids, some are better for the hip and single nightlife scene, some have a little bit of both. Rent and mortgage are fairly affordable depending on your lifestyle and preferences. Access to the City of Dallas cannot be underrated either as it is teeming with Southern spirit, or may be possibly one of the hippest cities in America. Webb Chapel is another great neighborhood to consider just north of the center of Dallas. Although Webb Chapel has its share of restaurants, movie theaters, places of worship, and wonderful places to live, the area is perhaps best known for its park. The park on Webb Chapel Road has a stunning Art Deco pavilion, truly one of the most iconic pieces of architecture in the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Webb chapel has a long and storied history, stretching all the way back to the foundation of the great Texas Republic, indeed a treat for the history buffs. Residences of this area will find out that the community is a close knit one that is well established, but friendly. There are ample places to work and play, including parks, a great shopping center, and a movie theater complex. Webb chapel is known to be especially friendly to families. Rawhide Creek is always nearby for great outdoor fun, with the and raw beautiful Hyde Park running along its lush banks. There is a great sense of community in this neighborhood for children also, with libraries and play areas, all conveniently located and of a high quality.
