James Madison High School provides a culturally diverse experience for its students. This experience has helped an average of 97 percent of students become prepared for attending college or university after high school.
The current student population of 454 individuals are encouraged to partake in multiple activities, including sports teams, school sponsored clubs, and community outreach programs. In addition to participating in numerous activities, James Madison High School students are encouraged to take SAT and ACT preparatory classes. In 2010 - 2011, 68 percent of the students took the ACT.

Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) is used to assess the progress of high school students. In 2012 - 2013 over 50 percent of students, in multiple, tested at the "proficient" or "better than proficient" levels in math, social studies, science, and English arts. As a smaller high school, James Madison offers the opportunity for one-on-one learning, which can be beneficial for students.
