School Overview
Hillcrest High School has been around since the 1930s. It was originally named Vickery Meadows High School, but administrators chose to change the name to Hillcrest in 1945. Now the school serves the Preston Hollow community as well as portions of Vickery Meadows and Addison. Academically, Hillcrest offers unique opportunities that students might not find in similar neighborhood high schools. Hillcrest's Academy of Engineering gives students with specific interests in the engineering field a head-start with relevant preparatory work. A comprehensive AP program also gives all students opportunities to complete college-type coursework before they graduate, even offering AP summer classes.
Hillcrest also offers plenty of extracurricular activities for students interested in athletics or fine arts. Athletic programs include football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer. Students can also participate in jazz band, orchestra, mock trial, theater, yearbook, JROTC, or a number of other academic and non-academic clubs and programs that give them incomparable opportunities to branch out, explore their interests, and meet other like-minded students.
