Back in 1995, Tejano singer Selena was tragically murdered by her fan club president in Corpus Christi. But Corpus Christi has kept her spirit alive with Mirador de la Flor, a monument dedicated to the iconic singer.
Selena fans visit the monument with her favorite flower, white roses, to pay homage to the life and career of local Texas performer.
7. Who Needs A Car When You Have Skinny Boats?
The best way to get around in Corpus Christi is via kayak. Whether it’s adventurous salt-water kayaking or the more relaxing bay kayaking, you’ll find these skinny boats dotting all around the coast for almost all months during the year.

9. The Main Lady In Corpus Christians’ Hearts Is Lady Lex
If there’s one lady that everyone in Corpus will always love, it’s Lady Lex, the nickname of the U.S.S. Lexington, an aircraft carrier that has its home in the city.
The “Blue Ghost” is said to be haunted, but that doesn’t scare away any of the visitors to its living museum, where people can see its proud history in World War II, where it earned two battle stars.
10. Corpus Christi Locals Always Have Their Binoculars On Hand
There’s no place quite like Corpus Christi if you love birdwatching—and with all of the incredible aviary life in the city, everyone is going to be a birdwatcher. There’s a reason it’s called “America’s birdiest city.”
In the local botanical gardens, there’s a bird named Sam that “sings and dances” along to music. But most of the birds are out in the wild. Pay particular attention to the skies in along Corpus Christi Bay and the Mustang Island Loop.
