Worthington, Ohio is a picturesque suburb located on the Northside of Columbus in Franklin County. Historically the town was settled around 1803, and was named for Thomas Worthington who was the governor of Ohio at the time. Kenyon College is located there which helped drive the population of the town back then to what it is today. The population overall is almost 14,000 people. Worthington is only 5.63 square mile in area, so it’s a highly walkable city during nice weather with ample sidewalks, bike paths, and not a lot of traffic for its residents to deal with. Those that work in the great Columbus downtown area don’t have a far commute from Worthington, so it makes it an ideal place to buy a home. It’s only about a 15 minute drive on Interstate 315. The way most of the citizens that live there describe the vibe of the city is family friendly, safe, and cozy. The demographics of Worthington are 92 percent white, 3 percent Asian, and 2 percent African American. The median age of people is close to 40-years-old due to the fact that the housing prices are a little higher here. It’s split pretty equally male to female, with almost 67 percent of the people there being married. Families have a median income of around $87,000, with 57 percent of households having children as part of the mix. It’s also a very educated area with 34 percent of people having a Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university.
This allows people to afford a median home price of $144,000. If you are going to look at the number of people with white collar professional jobs it falls around 63 percent, with blue collar workers being at 37 percent.
The Wexner Center For The Arts is on the Ohio State campus in Columbus, and it has a variety of art-centric programs for people of all ages. It’s all about contemporary art through performance, film, and actual works of art.
The quality of life is high in Worthington since the crime rate is rather low. It’s also got a great employment rate, since the unemployment rate is only 4.3 percent, much lower than the national average. Or even the average in all of Ohio statewide.

The schools as part of the Worthington District School system are very highly rated. They are ranked well by the US New and World Reports who judge schools based on their state test scores. They were also given an A ranking from the Ohio Department of Education for their stellar graduation rates. There are multiple elementary, middle, and high schools that serve the community. Some of the ones are Thomas Worthington High School which has about 1700 students, Kilbourne Middle School, and Bluffsview Elementary. All are geared towards college prep, so students have the option to go as far as they can in their education.
