1. Show Your Taste Buds Who’s In Charge At Pie Boss
Pie Boss
(630) 898-3448
1649 Montgomery Rd
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 79 Reviews
Think of your dream crust. Is it flaky along the edges, buttery and so full of flavor you don’t know how it could possibly be real? Well, look no further than Pie Boss.
With their specialty being pot pies, you won’t find too many desserts here (except on the weekends) so don’t be disappointed if the menu says “sausage” instead of “apple.” Don’t let that detour you–these pot pies are delicious and reminiscent of the ones you had as a child. Only difference? Pie Boss blow those ones away.
2. Eat Breakfast, Lunch And Dinner (Or Breakfast For Lunch And Dinner) At Pomegranate Restaurant
Pomegranate Restaurant
(630) 692-0009
55 S Commons Dr
Yelp: 4 Stars – 122 Reviews
America is obsessed with bacon. We all know this. Which is why Pomegranate Restaurant’s bacon waffle just makes so much sense. Every breakfast joint
If bacon’s not your thing but waffles still are, try their pomegranate waffle–it comes with their pomegranate sauce and it’s jam-azing.
Another great thing about this place, aside from their fresh ingredients, is that they serve breakfast all day. Late risers, rejoice! You can get breakfast and a mimosa at four P.M.
P.S. Don’t let my breakfast bias keep you from ordering off the lunch and dinner menus. All of their food is amazing!
3. Have A Taste Bud Liaison At Chef Amaury’s Epicurean Affair
Chef Amaury’s Epicurean Affair
(630) 375-0426
33 W New York St
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 51 Reviews
A seasonal, weekly rotating menu makes Chef Amaury’s Epicurean Affair a bit eclectic and exciting–you’ll never know what exactly will be coming up next! A focus on local, fresh ingredients explains the menu changes, as well as the reason people keep coming back here for more.
This fine dining experience is enhanced by great service and multiple course meals that perfectly complement each other (I’m not even going to get started on the wine pairings) while delivering so much flavor you almost won’t be able to handle it. Almost.
Seriously, they do everything to perfection here, and while it is a bit pricier, it is honestly worth every single cent. If you don’t agree after the main courses, their brulee will definitely cross you over into complete and blissful agreement.
4. Oh Man, You Have Got To Go To Omango
Omango
(630) 449-5100
1056 N Rt 59
Ste 100
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 150 Reviews
This place is great. They work to embrace the true spirit of Indian cuisine, which means homemade chutneys and sauces, house-made breads baked in real tandoor ovens and fresh produce.
For those that are spice-aholics, this Chicago’s Best Spicy Food award-winner is definitely for you. They even allow you to mix your curries out of four options for your own fiery tongue pleaser of choice. Personally, I can’t handle that much spice so I opt for a wrap with a side of chutney.
5. River’s Edge Café Edges Out The Coffee And Pastries Competition
River’s Edge Café
(630) 897-3343
14 W Downer Pl
Ste 18
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 36 Reviews
A well-made latte paired with a scrumptious sandwich? Yes, please!
River’s Edge Café serves up a strong brew with amazing pastries in the morning and unbeatable soups, salads and sandwiches in the afternoon. The options here are outstanding! They have organic and gluten-free options that are deceivingly delicious.
My personal favorite? Their sandwiches. They are so filling (both taste-wise and belly-wise) that there isn’t a need to serve sides–you wouldn’t have room for them anyway.
If I’m there in the morning, I go for any of their muffins… and I haven’t gone wrong yet.
6. Pretend You’re In A Sci-Fi Movie At Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar
Sushi + Rotary Bar
(630)820-1666
4430 Fox Valley Center Dr
Ste 106
Yelp: 4 Stars – 83 Reviews
Sushi on a conveyor belt may sound a little bit too wild to be safe, but Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar has freshness on lockdown. Sit down and watch your favorite sushi glide on by and pick it out as you please. Don’t see something you like? Order off the menu.
All of their sushi rolls are stellar. I mean, they even have sushi tacos! Plus, since they’re on a conveyor belt, not only are your taste buds satisfied, the child inside of you is as well.
7. Enjoy History, Good Eats And Even Better Brews At Two Brothers Roundhouse
Two Brothers Roundhouse
(630) 264-2739
205 N Broadway Ave
Yelp: 3.5 Stars – 210 Reviews
At Two Brothers Roundhouse they have it all. A café, an outdoor seating area, a performing area, and, the area that serves as their brewpub, the roundhouse. Two Brothers Roundhouse serves up flavorful full entrees and small plates.
Personally, I love the fried brussel sprouts. I feel like I’m eating healthy because they’re vegetables, but they’re also fried, so even the smallest brussel sprout fan will be into eating them.
When I am not dining solely on their delectable small plate options, I love their rib tip entree. They’ve got everything you could want in a rib tip! And their beer–well, it’s not rare that people go there just for the spirits.
8. Ach-N-Lou's Pizza Pub
Ach-N-Lou’s Pizza Pub
(630)898-2626
1592 N Farnsworth Ave
Yelp: 4 Stars – 57 Reviews
Sometimes basic is best. This is especially true at Ach-N-Lou’s Pizza Pub. Nothing beats a well-made thin crust pizza. NOTHING. Pizza is practically America’s comfort food and this place serves ‘em up right.
If you want your pizza really crunchy, you can try their ultra thin crust. They even offer pre-made frozen pizzas, so you can take the taste of Ach-N-Lou’s home with you.
9. Basils Greek Dining Will Ruin You On Eating Cheese That Isn’t Saganaki
Basils Greek Dining
(630) 692-1300
4000 Fox Valley Ctr Dr
Yelp: 4 Stars – 143 Reviews
Saganaki is a favorite of mine. Maybe it’s because everyone yells “Opa!” when it’s brought out or possibly because it’s cheese that is set on fire. Either way, it’s great, and Basils Greek Dining definitely doesn’t disappoint when it comes to this classic dish.
I like to hit up Basils Greek Dining when I’m celebrating something, as it has a bit of a fancier feel then I’m used to for Greek restaurants and the prices are a bit higher but always worth it.
10. When It Come To Italian Cuisine, Luigi’s House Is The Place To Beat
Luigi’s House
(630)375-6400
778 N Rt 59
Yelp: 3.5 Stars – 103 Reviews
This place brings a whole new life to eggplant parmesan. It’s full of flavor and soft but just firm enough that it isn’t soggy (my eggplant lovers out there, you know what I’m talking about.)
Everything is fresh, perfectly spiced and reasonably priced. I’m also wild about their bruschetta. Luigi’s House is your Italian home away from home that you wish you had.
11. I’m Definitely Eggin’ You On To Eat Brunch At Double Yolk
Double Yolk
(630)820-9655
1555 Butterfield Rd
Ste 101
Yelp: 4 Stars – 49 Reviews
Finding a brunch spot as delicious as Double Yolk is about as rare as finding… well, a double yolk in an egg. With homemade corned beef hash, the shamrock benedict has become something I crave night and day. The hollandaise is perfect, especially when paired with the corned beef hash.
And their chipotle chicken sandwich–I know, quick switch from the benedict– the seasoning is just perfect.
Pro tip: If you go during peak lunch and breakfast times, expect to wait a few minutes. Don’t worry though, their service is great and you’re always seated pretty quickly!
12. Jake’s Bagels & Deli Will Have You Bageling For More
Jake’s Bagels & Deli
(630) 906-0332
220 N Broadway
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 47 Reviews
I cannot stress how much I love bagel sandwiches. They just trump bread, no matter how you slice it.
Jake’s Bagels & Deli has some pretty amazing breakfast and lunch sandwiches that are, you guessed it, served on their fantastic bagels.
If you’re not too into bagel sandwiches (how could you not be?), they offer some great cream cheese selections. Looking to treat yourself? Try their cinnamon raisin bagel with vanilla cream cheese. You don’t have to thank me right away.
13. Load Up On Conchas, Marranitos and Empanadas At La Chicanita Bakery
La Chicanita Bakery
(630)499-8845
700 E New York St
Ste 110
Yelp: 4 Stars – 9 Reviews
La Chicanita Bakery is a great spot for authentic Mexican treats. My tray is typically overflowing by the time I force myself to check out. (At a Mexican bakery you grab a tray, some tongs and go wild.)
Now before you judge me, not everything on my tray is sweet. Their bread selection here is phenomenal and always fresh, even in the later hours of the day. Seriously, if you haven’t been here yet and my review doesn’t tempt you… I just don’t even know what to say.
14. Head North For The Freshest Breakfast
Ari’s Kitchen
(630) 340-3569
362 N Randall Rd
Yelp: 4.5 Stars – 44 Reviews
Let me preface by saying that I am fully aware this is located in North Aurora.
Who doesn’t enjoy a break from cooking every now and then? I love taking (maybe too many) breaks from cooking and heading to Ari’s Kitchen. Everything is made to order from the freshest possible ingredients. Another perk–they make their own jams and butter. I mean, how long has it been since you’ve had homemade butter?
And the pumpkin pancakes… I’m already drooling just thinking about those them slathered in cinnamon sugar butter.
15. Taco Me Seriously, Eat At La Quebrada
La Quebrada
(630) 896-2535
723 S Broadway
Yelp: 4 Stars – 46 Reviews
La Quebrada has the best authentic Mexican food in the area. I haven’t been able to find another place that tops their pastor–and I eat a lot of tacos. Added bonus: they have FRESH tamarind juice. As long as you don’t walk in expecting Tex-Mex, you’ll love everything. Even if you do, you’ll end up being pleasantly surprised.
