School Overview

At Inman Middle School, your child will be joining a long tradition of quality education that began when the school was established in 1924 as an elementary school. Named for Samuel Martin Inman, Inman was converted to a middle school in 1978 and is considered one of the top schools in the state. Along with a full course of classes and electives, sporting activities are also on the agenda including favorites such as baseball, lacrosse, football, tennis, golf, soccer, and basketball. Additional activities include band, chorus, orchestra, and a variety of clubs from drama and bowling to photography and journalism. Inman also offers camps and the Out-Of-School enrichment program supporting creative involvement in sports, activities and workshops.

What Parents Are Saying

"My son has an IEP and has absolutely flourished at Inman. I was worried because we were moving into the district from the suburbs. The faculty is outstanding and has so much to offer (for example, a 6th grade social studies teacher at Inman won a Pulitzer for her play). The school has a community feel, is diverse, and welcoming. I get a good feeling every time I drive by. I know my son is safe, has access to all sorts of interesting information, experiences and activities. He comes home everyday feeling positive about his progress. Never before has he been more self motivated. Inman is one of the best schools in the APS." "The school gets its reputation for academic success from two sources: First are the children of well educated parents who work at the CDC and colleges and universities; these kids come prepared and would test well anywhere no matter what the school itself did or did not do. Then, two, there are some very good teachers." "My son attends 7th grade at Inman. Overall, as a parent I'm very pleased with the school. My son is all praises for some of the teachers. He is in the gifted program and enjoys his classes. My only gripe is that there doesn't seem enough homework for him on a daily basis! However I must say that the project work required of them really encourages them to work hard and think outside the box. I have to say that in the beginning we had apprehensions about this school, but now we all are happy to be here."
