The Sea Captain Hilman Crosby House, Circa 1830. Hilman Crosby, an intercoastal ship captain, built this sturdy Cape Cod-style house in 1830 as a gift to his wife, in celebration of their marriage. Over the years, as the family grew they determined a need for additional space. To accommodate this need they decided to bring over by boat a house from Nantucket which they added to the original structure, some good old Yankee ingenuity. Today this beautifully restored home sits elegantly among the other private estates and historic houses that line the quiet Main Street of Centerville. The current owner purchased this fantastic property in the mid 80's and with his wife, opened their doors to the public as a successful B&B named The Copper Beach Inn.
