While states in the Deep South will staunchly disagree, Maryland is very much a Southern state. They fall below the Mason-Dixon line and the very high majority takes pride in their Southern roots and heritage. Baltimore is the notable exception, which is a city similar to D.C.<\/a> and Philly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the Maryland flag and it\u2019s, by far, the best flag in the entire Union. You\u2019ll see it throughout the state on everything from the obvious to the most random things including bathing suits, towels, bumper stickers, and more.<\/p>\n

Well, Baltimore has a population reaching over 600,000 people. So, the answer could very well be yes. But Maryland is much bigger than Baltimore. So, not only is the answer probably no, but you\u2019ll also probably end up with an eye roll since most Marylanders prefer not to be associated with Baltimore unless it\u2019s sports related.<\/p>\n

The Eastern Shore is basically a bunch of counties that fall predominantly on the Chesapeake Bay side of the state. They have their own thing going on and might as well be separate from most of Maryland, especially Baltimore. You\u2019ll probably hear talk about them trying to secede from time to time. It goes away as quickly as it gets brought up.<\/p>\n

Maybe, maybe not. But there is a huge Navy presence and a lot of Navy supporters throughout Maryland, which makes sense since the capital is Annapolis<\/a>, after all.<\/p>\n

Yep. Genuine feral ponies roam Assateague Island. Chincoteague and more of Assateague is located in Virginia, too. You can camp or roam the beaches, hanging out with the ponies which are safe to be around. But remember, they are feral. So don\u2019t do anything stupid like trying to get a selfie with one or leaving your sandwich hanging out. They\u2019re not shy.<\/p>\n

Ocean City, Maryland has a killer boardwalk that is unlike most others you\u2019ll find because of how much there is to do on it. It\u2019s like visiting Jersey Shore beaches with the added perk of not having to visit Jersey.<\/p>\n

Just kidding. No one asks that because the answer is obvious. From the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with foam, Maryland has the best of everything America has to offer. That\u2019s why it\u2019s hard to argue that Maryland is one of the most enjoyable places to live in the country.
