Once a booming mine town, many sources put the number of residents that live in Centralia in the single digits today. After a giant underground mine shaft fire in 1962 resulted in rapid flight from this city, it quickly fell apart giving it quite the eerie appeal.
\nEven after more than 50 years, the fire burns strong. It\u2019s expected to do so for another 250.<\/p>\n

Overlooking Pittsburgh, people from the Steel City might know the Duquesne Incline, but it tends to get ignored by people in the rest of the state.
\nAn inclined plane railroad, a ride in this train car only takes 800 feet of distance to climb 400 feet up the side of Mt. Washington. In other words, it\u2019s pretty darn steep.<\/p>\n

\nNot only do they offer a 15lb 2-person burger challenge, they once broke a world record by successfully constructing a burger that weighed 123 pounds, nearly 500 quarter pounders at McDonalds.<\/p>\n

In 1965, residents of Kecksburg were shocked when an unidentified object that looked like a giant acorn came crashing down from the sky. Unfortunately, witnesses claim the scene was quickly taken over by the government before they could get a good view.
\nAfter 50 years, the town still hosts the Kecksburg UFO Festival commemorating that night, making this the perfect place in Pennsylvania to go hunting for some aliens.<\/p>\n

Once standing at 301 feet tall and stretching for over 2,000 feet, the Kinzua Bridge was quite the engineering feat. Unfortunately a large portion of it collapsed in 2003.
\nHowever, today there\u2019s still a pretty awesome skywalk in its place with a glass-floored observation deck providing excellent views of the wreckage in the valley below.<\/p>\n

Built between 1908 and 1912 with over 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces, and 10 bathrooms, the Fonthill Castle is one of the most unique homes in this state. Today, it also houses over 40,000 historical relics, making this place definitely worth the day-trip.<\/p>\n

A renovated church might seem like an odd place for a brewery, but that\u2019s exactly what the people at Church Brew Works made happen.
\nWith an enormous open space inside that\u2019s complete with plenty of stained glass in every direction, you\u2019ll definitely want to come here for a pint next time you\u2019re in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

Delivering some of the most beautiful views in the state, it\u2019s hard to keep your eyes on the road while you\u2019re driving the High Plateau scenic byway, a stretch of Route 144 between Snow Shoe and Renovo.
\nFrom this road, you get a great panoramic of Sproul State Forest and all of the awesome wildlife that lives there.<\/p>\n
