1. Elizabethtown, KY<\/h2>\n

\nThe smallest city on our list comes out as the safest city in Kentucky. Elizabethtown<\/a> may be the 10th largest city in the state, but it has a population only around 28,500. E-town is the county seat for Hardin County, and was the namesake for the 2005 movie \u2018Elizabethtown\u2019. The crime index is 3,707 \u2013 37 percent above state average.<\/p>\n

2. Georgetown, KY<\/h2>\n

\nNamed in honor of President George Washington, Georgetown is the second safest city in Kentucky, and the ninth largest. It\u2019s the county seat of Scott County and has had a bustling economy since Toyota opened their manufacturing plant here in 1988. The crime index is 54 percent above state average, at 4,178.<\/p>\n

3. Owensboro, KY<\/h2>\n

\nOwensboro is the fourth largest city, and the third safest city in Kentucky. The crime index is 4,277, and that\u2019s 58 percent above the state average. Owensboro is also a county seat, for Daviess County, and is nicknamed the BBQ Capital of the World thanks to its annual International BBQ Festival.<\/p>\n

4. Hopkinsville, Kentucky<\/h2>\n

\nHopkinsville is home to around 31,500 people, so it\u2019s the sixth largest city in Kentucky. It\u2019s the county seat of Christian County, set in the south east of the state, and it\u2019s the fourth safest place to live in Kentucky. The crime index is 65 percent above state average, at 4,466.<\/p>\n

5. Lexington, Kentucky<\/h2>\n

6. Bowling Green<\/h2>\n
