As the nation\u2019s capital the city is home to many of the country\u2019s best museums and there\u2019s national monuments to see at every turn. Shopping and dining are great in Washington, D.C. too, and there\u2019s plenty in the way of theaters, entertainment and nightlife as well.<br \/>\n<\/br><\/p>\n<h2>Restaurants and Cuisine in Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\n<p>Washington, D.C. doesn\u2019t appear to have its own special cuisine but then, as the nation\u2019s capital, it\u2019s only fair that many different types of American cuisine are represented here \u2013 and that\u2019s certainly true. There are over 1,500 restaurants in D.C. and you can find just about any type of cuisine you can think of. The most prevalent is American and there are more than 500 places to try some of the typical American cuisine, but add in Chinese, Asian, British, Barbecue, European, French, Indian, Irish, Greek, Mexican, Italian, Japanese, seafood\u2026 well, you get the idea.<br \/>\nAccording to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/Restaurants-g28970-Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html\">TripAdvisor<\/a> the best restaurant in Washington, D.C. is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marcelsdc.com\/\">Marcel\u2019s<\/a>. It\u2019s not one of the 500 or so American restaurants \u2013 they serve Belgian, French and seafood for dinner, seven days a week. And the second best?\u2026 Indian cuisine at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasikarestaurant.com\/\" title=\"Rasika\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rasika<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/br><\/p>\n<h2>Attractions in Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\n<p><div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/movotoblog\/2013\/05\/Washington%2CDC\/Lincoln+Memorial.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Wikipedia.<\/p><\/div><br \/>\nWhere should we start with a city that\u2019s simply full of attractions?! Well, The National Mall is a good place to start if you\u2019re new to the city. It\u2019s home to many of the nation\u2019s best loved and respected landmarks such as The Lincoln Memorial, the United States Capitol, Washington Monument, and many more. There are the excellent museums too, numerous of which come under the umbrella of the renowned Smithsonian Institute. The National Museum of Natural History is among the most popular and it\u2019s got something for all ages. All ages also love the <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalzoo.si.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Zoo<\/a> \u2013 it\u2019s one of the oldest in the country and being part of the Smithsonian they don\u2019t charge for admission so you can see why this attraction is so popular!<br \/>\nWashington, D.C. has many theaters and entertainment venues too, so it\u2019s great if you love music and the performing arts. Popular venues include the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Ford\u2019s Theatre \u2013 the site where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.<br \/>\n<\/br><\/p>\n<h2>Shopping in Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\n<p>Despite being the capital, D.C. hasn\u2019t had a great reputation as a shopping destination, but this has changed in recent years. There are now some excellent, trendy places to shop in D.C.\u2019s numerous neighborhoods and if you like boutique and independent stores there are many to choose from. Georgetown is one of D.C.\u2019s popular shopping spots; full of art galleries, high end clothes stores, and independent places.
