There is a strong historic preservation bent in these neighborhoods, which means there is a great collection of architectural variety. These neighborhoods are located southeast of downtown right along the St. Johns River. There is easy access to downtown. There are three key commercial areas that serve these neighborhoods: Five Points, King Street District, and Shoppes of Avondale. There is a diversity of dining options in the neighborhood with Mossfire Grill, 13 Gypsies, and Orsay being three notable options.<br \/>\n<\/br><\/p>\n<h2>Springfield<\/h2>\n<p>Located north of downtown, Springfield is an historic residential neighborhood. What was once the spot of the wealthiest residents of Jacksonville, the area experienced a period of decay and is now experiencing a lot of revitalization. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southernliving.com\/home-garden\/best-neighborhoods-00400000061751\/http:\/\/\" title=\"Southern Living Magazine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Southern Living Magazine<\/a> recognized Springfield as on a \u201cbest comeback neighborhood\u201d citing the rehabilitation of older homes and reduction of crime. The neighborhood is still on the upswing and would be great for someone who wants to be part of a re-emerging neighborhood. There are a variety of restaurant options covering a range of cuisine including Caribbean and Mexican. There are also sweet little cafes and dessert shops which will be loved by those with a sweet tooth.<br \/>\n<\/br><\/p>\n<h2>Eastside<\/h2>\n<p>Located east of downtown Jacksonville, this neighborhood is aptly named. Three significant complexes are located in this neighborhood: EverBank Field, the Veterans Memorial Arena and the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. If you love sports, you will be in the perfect spot in Eastside. The commercial core of this neighborhood is San Marco Square. The area experienced some decline in the 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s but is now experiencing significant investment and revitalization. There are many parks in the neighbor which are popular with kids and families. There are also neighborhood schools and a branch of the public library.
