I always thought yarn was kinda boring. It’s limp, lifeless, and really only good for one purpose. Until now, that is. Minneapolis street artist HoTTea ditched the spray paint and graffiti for yarn and the result is thrilling.
Sure, yarn might be dainty but this feat surely wasn’t. It took HoTTea over 12 hours to create this installation, aptly titled “Optimism,” so clearly it was an investment of time and care—and it shows. The end result is so fluid and interesting, it’s difficult to believe the material it was made from. (Remember when I called ribbon “lifeless” just then? Check out the 2:26 mark. I’m eating my words!)
This profile on HoTTea is so inspiring because it encourages us to look at everyday items in a whole new light. Anything can inspire art and create grand-scale beauty.
