Thanks to the lake effect and this city’s location on the East Coast, Buffalo constantly gets pounded with storms, including its most recent record breaking snowfall in which up to 7 feet of powder fell in certain areas. The people here love their city, but most of them aren’t too fond of the intense weather that comes along with it.

By this point, anyone that’s still unsure of what Buffalo’s most famous dish consists of deserves to live in ignorance for the rest of their life. Famously mistaken for actual buffalo meat by a certain blonde celebrity years ago, this chicken dish has the “Buffalo” prefix due to the regional sauce that’s used, not the animal it comes from.

Why wait until you’re of legal drinking age in America when Canada is only a short drive down the road? Teens here tend to drive across the border to buy alcohol instead of waiting until they’re 21. After all, the drinking age is 19 in Ontario and 18 in Quebec.

Around Buffalo, it’s all about Tim Hortons coffee, not Starbucks. With most residents suffering from a mild addiction to this popular morning drink, there’s nothing worse than waiting in a long line at Tim Hortons while you’re trying to start your day.

Believe it or not, this candy favorite around Buffalo doesn’t consist of America’s favorite sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea. It’s actually a puffy square candy that’s caramelized sugar covered in chocolate.

It’s hard to stand out amongst tourists when outsiders only know your state for America’s biggest city, despite NYC basically being an entirely different state in itself. That’s just fine though. The people in Buffalo are perfectly happy letting the tourists flock to another location, leaving their streets pristine and uncrowded.
