Among the cities in the United States, Dallas is the 30th most walkable and features some outstanding neighborhoods that offer stellar lifestyles of convenience and beautiful landscapes.  Dallas is a city with diverse housing options, and one where neighborhoods include everything from peaceful greenbelts to high rise condo units.

City Center Neighborhood

City Center District is located in downtown Dallas; north-central region, and has a population of 1,167 people. The City Center District has the highest walkable neighborhood score in Dallas at 96.  The District is served by the Dallas Independent School District, and for residents, there are a number of amenities that make life exceptional.  St. Paul Station offers the convenience to get from one destination to another via train / tram when traveling on foot is not possible.  The area is anchored with numerous retailers, restaurants and nightlife, with many hotspots of natural beauty to enable you to escape from it all.

Main Street District

Main Street District is the spine of downtown Dallas, and ranks as the second most walkable neighborhood in Dallas with a score of 96.  The area houses 1,213 people from all walks of life who enjoy an atmosphere that is convenient and of high quality.  Students within the district are served through the Dallas Independent School District.  The area features a number of major retailers, hotels, and banks that are all conveniently located to ensure ease.  Pegasus Plaza Kirby Building, Adolhus Tower, iron Cactus Restaurant, and the Magnolia Hotel are all great gathering places for residents and visitors alike.

Government District

Government District is located just in south-central downtown Dallas and is the third most walkable neighborhood in Dallas with a score of 94.  The area houses 779 people who enjoy an area where living is convenient.  Residents enjoy many amenities which include retail, grocers, restaurants the J. Erik Johnson Central Library, and the Dallas City Hall.  The area is served by the Dallas Independent School District.

Farmers Market, Dallas

Farmers Market District is located in southeastern downtown Dallas and is the fourth most walkable neighborhood in Dallas with a score of 81.  The area houses 2,440 residents who enjoy a number of amenities.  One of the greatest highlights of the neighborhood is the local produce market which features farm fresh goods from local farmers.  The district also features a number of restaurants and retailers.

Oak Lawn, Dallas

Oak Lawn is located in Dallas and ranked as the fifth most walkable neighborhood in Dallas with a score of 78.  The area has a large population of 47,181 residents, with many of the residents being professionals.  Housing included condos, townhomes, and single family homes.  The neighborhood is known for its good restaurants and plenty of clubs and bars, with many being reachable by foot.  School aged children within the district are served a public education through the Dallas Independent School District.

Within each of the above areas there are many neighborhoods that are ideally suited for all types of living lifestyles.  Dallas is notorious for its exceptional lofts and condo style living, as well as, family oriented neighborhoods and upper class neighborhoods with stellar community amenities.
